The Browning Maxus II 28" semi-automatic shotgun in Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Habitat camo is built for serious waterfowlers and upland hunters who demand a reliable, comfortable gun that won't quit when conditions get tough. This gas-operated autoloader combines time-proven reliability with a refined platform that handles everything from light target loads to heavy 3½-inch magnum duck and goose ammunition without complaint.

The Maxus II engine—Browning's Power Drive Gas System—remains one of the fastest, most adaptable gas systems in the autoloader world. It cycles reliably across the full spectrum of ammunition and manages recoil exceptionally well, so you stay on target and your shoulder stays happy. The redesigned composite stock features a new SoftFlex cheek pad and a 1½-inch Inflex Recoil Pad that work together to soften the blow of magnum loads. If fit is a concern, the stock can be trimmed up to ¾ inch and adjusted for cast and length of pull using shims, making it work for shooters of different builds. Overmolded rubber panels on the stock and forearm give you a secure grip in wet conditions—critical when you're wading or working muddy banks.

Handling is intuitive and fast: oversized bolt release and bolt handle reduce fumbling, a ramped trigger guard speeds loading, and the screw-on magazine cap is straightforward to work with. The nickel Teflon coating on the bolt, bolt slide, shell carrier, and bolt release adds durability and reduces friction, while a chrome chamber and bore resist corrosion and wear. You get three extended Invector-Plus choke tubes to dial in your pattern, a fiber-optic front sight paired with an ivory mid-bead for low-light visibility, and the gun ships in an ABS hard case.

At 28 inches, this barrel length balances maneuverability in tight cover with the sight radius and swing characteristics serious wingshooters expect. The Maxus II carries the DNA of one of the most battle-tested autoloaders in the marsh—refined, not reinvented.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Maxus II best suited for?

The Maxus II is purpose-built for waterfowl hunting—duck and goose—where reliability in harsh, wet conditions and comfortable handling of heavy magnum loads matter most. It's equally at home for upland bird hunting and clay sports.

Can the Maxus II handle 3½-inch magnum shells?

Yes. The Power Drive Gas System is tuned to cycle the full spectrum of ammunition, including 3½-inch magnum loads, and the SoftFlex cheek pad and 1½-inch Inflex Recoil Pad are designed to reduce the felt recoil of heavy magnum shells.

Is the stock adjustable for different shooters?

Yes. The composite stock can be trimmed up to ¾ inch and is shim-adjustable for both cast (left/right) and length of pull (front to back), allowing you to customize fit across a range of body types and shooting styles.

What chokes come with the gun?

Three extended Invector-Plus choke tubes are included. The gun uses Browning's Invector-Plus choke system, which allows you to swap tubes to dial in your shot pattern for the game and distance you're hunting.
