The Browning Citori Hunter 28-gauge over-and-under shotgun delivers balanced, classic upland handling in a lightweight package that swings naturally through tight cover. Built on Browning's proven Citori platform, this 26-inch 3-chamber gun pairs traditional game-bird ergonomics with modern reliability—ideal for hunters who value a refined, capable all-around shotgun for pheasant, quail, and woodcock.

You get a satin-finished Grade II/III American walnut stock that feels good in hand, paired with a gloss-finished barrel and a distinctively finished receiver with silver nitride and gold enhancement. The 50/50 point of impact means you're not fighting the gun's natural aim—it shoots where you expect without constant adjustment. Three flush choke tubes (full, modified, improved cylinder) come in the box, letting you adapt to different distances and cover.

The mechanical foundation is where the Citori earns its reputation: a transverse-mounted, full-width tapered locking bolt with monoblock recess keeps the action solid through years of use. The full-width hinge pin is built to outlast lesser designs. Chrome-lined chambers resist corrosion and make cleanup faster. An Inflex recoil pad II absorbs recoil without slipping, and the inertia trigger with hammer ejectors keeps function simple and reliable. The lengthened forcing cone and back-bored barrels work with Invector-Plus choke compatibility to handle steel shot when you need it, though this is a gun that will excel on upland game.

A silver bead front sight keeps your eye moving through the target naturally. Whether you're a seasoned upland hunter or stepping up from a semi-auto, the Citori Hunter bridges tradition and dependable modern performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Browning Citori Hunter 28-gauge good for upland hunting?

Yes. The 28-gauge with a 26-inch barrel is a classic upland shotgun choice—light, quick-handling, and perfect for flushing birds in cover. The 50/50 point of impact and included choke tubes (full, modified, improved cylinder) let you match the gun to different terrain and distances.

What choke tubes come with this shotgun?

Three flush Invector-Plus choke tubes are included: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. The gun uses Browning's Invector-Plus system, which is standard on the Citori platform.

Can the Citori Hunter 28-gauge shoot steel shot?

Yes. The gun features back-bored barrels, a lengthened forcing cone (Vector Pro), and chrome-lined chambers—all designed to handle steel shot safely and reliably.

What's the difference between the Grade II/III walnut and higher grades?

Grade II/III American walnut is a quality, figured wood with good appearance and durability. It's finished in a satin tone that's practical for hunting and develops character with use. The exact grain and figuring will vary piece to piece, which is normal for walnut at this grade.
