The Browning Citori 28-gauge 3-inch is a refined over-and-under shotgun built for hunters who appreciate tradition and precision in upland bird work. The 28-gauge sits at that sweet spot between the mild recoil of a .410 and the shot capacity of a 20-gauge—ideal for pheasant, quail, grouse, and other upland game where finesse matters. This White Lightning model pairs Browning's proven Citori engineering with elegant styling: a polished blue barrel, grade III/IV walnut furniture with that signature lightning-fast styling, and a silver nitride receiver dressed in broad-coverage engraving that catches the light.
Under the wood, this shotgun is built to last. The full-width tapered locking bolt and monoblock recess lock the barrels down tight, while the chrome-lined chambers resist corrosion and make cleanup easier after a day afield. The extended forcing cone and back-bored barrels work together for cleaner patterns and reduced felt recoil—important when you're swinging on fast birds all morning. You get hammer ejectors to flip empties clear, an inertia trigger that's crisp and reliable, and the Inflex Recoil Pad II to absorb what little kick the 28-gauge generates.
Sighting is straightforward: an ivory bead at the muzzle and a mid-bead for consistent aim. The 60/40 point of impact puts the pattern where it should for upland hunting. Choke tubes are standard Invector, letting you swap constrictions to match your quarry and range. At 26 inches, the barrels cut through brush without tiring your arms, and the trim profile swings naturally on covey flushes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Citori 28-gauge good for upland bird hunting?
Yes. The 28-gauge Citori is designed specifically for upland game like pheasant, quail, and grouse. The 26-inch barrels swing naturally for fast birds, the 3-inch chamber gives you payload flexibility, and the mild recoil makes it comfortable for a full day afield.
What choke tubes come with this shotgun?
The Citori 28-gauge comes with standard Invector choke tubes, which let you swap constrictions to match your hunting situation and shot distance.
What's the point of impact on this over-and-under?
The Citori White Lightning has a 60/40 point of impact, meaning the shot pattern shoots 60 percent above the aiming point—a natural upland hunting setup that gives you good sight picture over the barrel.
Can this shotgun shoot steel shot?
Yes. The back-bored barrels, extended forcing cone, and chrome-lined chambers support steel shot performance, though always check your local regulations and choke tube markings before shooting anything other than lead.
