The Browning Citori 725 Field in 28-gauge is a refined over-under shotgun built for hunters and clay shooters who appreciate balance, reliability, and timeless craftsmanship. The 28-gauge delivers less recoil and lighter shot charges, making it an excellent choice for upland game, quail, woodcock, and sporting clays—especially for shooters who want all-day comfort without sacrificing effective range. Browning engineered the Citori 725 around a low-profile receiver design that feels naturally at home in your hands, and the 28-inch barrels strike the right blend of pointability and patterns for the kind of hunting and shooting most of us actually do.

Build quality is where the Citori 725 earns its reputation. The receiver is steel with hand-engraved accents and finished in gloss oil, paired with Grade II/III checkered walnut furniture that's both durable and beautiful. A tapered locking bolt maintains a tight receiver lock-up over time and use, while a transverse full-width hinge pin maximizes structural strength. Chrome-lined chambers resist corrosion and handle steel shot without flinching, and the mechanical Fire Lite trigger breaks cleanly and consistently. The Invector-DS choke system gives you flexibility—Standard Invector chokes are included—and the Inflex Recoil Pad II absorbs recoil energy without compromise.

The Citori 725 shoots 50/50 point-of-impact, meaning the shot pattern divides evenly between the two barrels' sight planes. An ivory bead sight aids target acquisition in the field. Whether you're working through a covey or breaking targets at the range, the Citori 725 is a shotgun that rewards good shooting and won't let you down.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Citori 725 Field 28-gauge good for hunting upland game?

Yes. The 28-gauge is ideal for upland hunting—quail, woodcock, grouse, and similar birds—and the 28-inch barrels provide excellent balance for walking and pointing. The lighter recoil makes an all-day hunt more comfortable, and the 50/50 point-of-impact helps you maintain a natural shooting form on fast-flushing birds.

What chokes come with this shotgun?

The Citori 725 Field includes Standard Invector chokes. The Invector-DS system allows you to swap chokes to match your load and target, and Browning offers a full range of aftermarket Invector chokes for different hunting and clay-shooting situations.

Can I use steel shot in the 28-gauge Citori 725?

Yes. The chrome-lined chambers are rated for steel shot, and Browning designed the Citori 725 to handle modern steel shot loads reliably. Always check your ammunition box to confirm the load is safe for your shotgun.

Is this shotgun suitable for sporting clays?

Absolutely. The Citori 725 is built for both hunting and clay shooting. The low-profile receiver, mechanical trigger, balanced handling, and 50/50 point-of-impact make it an effective choice for clay courses. The 28-gauge is less common for clays but offers reduced recoil and a lighter load if that matches your shooting preference.
