The Browning BAR Mark III in .308 Winchester is a modern take on the legendary autoloading hunting rifle that practically invented the category. This semi-auto rifle chambers one of the most versatile and time-tested cartridges in North America, making it equally at home on whitetail, elk, and medium-game hunts where follow-up shots and fast target acquisition matter. With a 22-inch hammer-forged barrel, 4-round detachable magazine, and a slick semi-automatic action, the BAR Mark III delivers the accuracy and speed that serious hunters expect from a rifle bearing the Browning name.
The third-generation design builds on decades of proven autoloader engineering while bringing contemporary refinements to the table. The precision alloy receiver and hammer-forged barrel are built for durability and consistency, while the Turkish walnut furniture and polished blued finish give the rifle a classic, timeless appearance. At 7 lbs 2 oz and 43.375 inches overall, it strikes a practical balance between portability and shootability—light enough to carry all day, substantial enough to shoot accurately from field positions.
If you've dismissed semi-auto hunting rifles as gimmicks, the BAR Mark III is worth reconsidering. The .308 Winchester gives you inherent accuracy, a wide selection of quality ammunition, and enough knockdown power for most North American game. The detachable box magazine means you can keep a loaded spare in your pocket for rapid reloads when seconds count, whether you're working a second animal or repositioning for a better shot.
