The Browning A5 Sweet 16 is a gas-operated autoloader built around the company's proven Kinematic Drive system, chambered in 16 gauge with a 26-inch barrel and 2.75-inch shells. If you've been hunting or shooting clays with heavier 12-gauge guns and want something with less recoil but real knockdown power, or if you simply prefer the handling and pointability of a 16, this is a serious option. The composite stock and balanced design make it swing naturally in the field, whether you're hunting waterfowl, upland birds, or running a round of sporting clays.
What sets the A5 Sweet 16 apart is the attention to fit and function. The stock is shim-adjustable for length of pull, cast, and drop—and Browning includes spacers (1/4 and 1/2 inch) so you can dial in the gun to your frame without aftermarket work. The Inflex II recoil pad absorbs punishment, which matters on a day-long hunt. The Vintage Tan camo coverage is modern and practical, breaking up your outline in the brush without the loud graphics. A fiber-optic front sight and ivory mid-bead make target acquisition fast in low light, and the gun ships with three Invector-DS flush choke tubes (Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder) so you're ready to adapt to different distances and game on the fly.
The A5 platform has earned its reputation for reliability and smooth operation. The Ergo Balance design places the center of gravity right where your hands want it, reducing fatigue during long hunts or tournaments. The vertical grip and textured surfaces on the composite furniture give you secure purchase in wet or cold conditions. With the included choke tubes and stock adjustment range, this gun can fit shooters of different builds and adapt to whatever you're hunting or shooting on any given day.

Frequently Asked Questions
What choke tubes come with the A5 Sweet 16?
The gun ships with three Invector-DS flush choke tubes: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. They're designed to swap quickly in the field so you can match your choke to your distance and game.
Can I adjust the stock fit to my frame?
Yes. The composite stock is adjustable for length of pull, cast, and drop using shims. Browning includes 1/4-inch and 1/2-inch spacers so you can customize fit without additional purchases.
Is this gun suitable for hunting and clay shooting?
Yes. The 16-gauge platform, barrel length, and included choke selection make it a practical choice for upland hunting, waterfowl, and sporting clays.
What's the recoil like compared to a 12 gauge?
The 16 gauge naturally produces less recoil than a 12 gauge. The Inflex II recoil pad and Ergo Balance design further reduce felt recoil and help tame the shot.
