The Browning A5 12ga semi-auto shotgun with 28" barrel represents a modern take on one of shooting's most iconic platforms. Built around Browning's Kinematic Drive System, this recoil-operated autoloader delivers the reliability and soft-shooting characteristics hunters expect when pursuing waterfowl, upland game, or running clays. The 28" barrel strikes a balance between swing speed and sight radius—a proven length for duck hunters and wing shooters who need both pointing quickness and sustained lead capability. Dressed in Realtree Max-7 camo, the A5 blends into any marsh, timber, or field setting.
What sets the A5 apart from the crowded semi-auto shotgun field is its attention to shooter fit and comfort. The composite stock features a vertical grip and textured surfaces for secure handling in wet conditions, and it's shim-adjustable for length of pull, cast, and drop—meaning you can dial in the gun to match your frame and shooting style rather than forcing your body to fit the gun. The included spacers provide up to 3/4" of total adjustment. Recoil management comes from the Inflex II pad, which absorbs shot-to-shot pounding during long days afield. The aluminum alloy receiver keeps weight down without sacrificing strength, while the lightweight profile barrel sports a flat, ventilated rib for a clean sight picture and reduced mirage on warm days.
On the mechanical side, the A5 includes a Vector Pro lengthened forcing cone—a design feature that reduces pellet deformation and shot-string disruption for more consistent patterns and cleaner kills. The barrel is fully chromed for corrosion resistance in harsh waterfowl environments, and it's fitted with Browning's Invector-DS choke tube system. You get three chokes right out of the box (Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder), so you're covered from dense decoy spreads to wide-open field work. A fiber-optic front sight and ivory mid-bead provide quick target acquisition. Everything ships in a hard ABS case, ready to transport to your hunting destination.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Browning A5 12-gauge good for waterfowl and upland hunting?
Yes. The A5's balance of soft recoil, quick handling in the 28" barrel length, and reliable semi-auto cycling makes it well-suited to both duck and goose hunting as well as upland work like pheasant. The included choke selection (Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder) covers most hunting scenarios from close-quarters timber to open-field shooting.
What does the shim-adjustable stock do?
The composite stock can be adjusted for length of pull, cast, and drop using the included 1/4" and 1/2" spacers. This lets you customize the gun's fit to your body dimensions and shooting style—whether you need a shorter pull for a slighter frame or want to adjust the cheek rest height for your preferred sight picture.
What chokes come with this shotgun?
The Browning A5 includes three Invector-DS flush chokes: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. These cover typical hunting and range scenarios and are interchangeable with other Invector-DS chokes.
What's included in the box?
The A5 ships in a hard ABS case, along with two stock spacers (1/4" and 1/2") for fit adjustment, and three choke tubes (Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder).
