The Browning A5 16 ga 28" semi-auto shotgun in Realtree Max-7 is a refined take on a classic—built for hunters who value balance, handling, and genuine power in the field. The 16 gauge has long held a reputation as the thinking hunter's choice: lighter than a 12, more capable than a 20, and paired here with Browning's proven short-recoil Kinematic Drive system for reliable function across any hunting condition, from marsh to upland to clay courses. This isn't retro posturing; it's a modern shotgun engineered around what actually works.

What sets the A5 16 apart is its smaller, lighter humpback receiver—the same profile that made Browning's original Auto-5 legendary for handling speed and sight plane length. The composite stock wears Realtree Max-7 camouflage and features textured gripping surfaces, a close-radius pistol grip, and an Inflex II recoil pad rated to manage recoil across the full spectrum of 16 gauge loads. Shim adjustability (with 1/4 and 1/2 inch spacers included) lets you dial in length of pull, cast, and drop to fit your frame and shooting style.

Browning backs the Kinematic Drive action with a 5-year, 100,000-round guarantee—confidence born from simplicity. The bolt and carrier are finished in nickel Teflon for protection and easy cycling; the chamber and bore are chromed to resist wear and corrosion. Three flush Invector-DS choke tubes (Full, Modified, Improved Cylinder) come standard, letting you tune patterns for whatever quarry you're after. A fiber-optic front sight and ivory mid-bead give you a crisp sight picture in low light, and the oversized bolt release and handle stay responsive even when you're gloved or in a rush.

This is a working gun for serious hunters—one that handles like it weighs five pounds less than it does and patterns tighter than it should. If you've ever shot a 16 gauge and thought it felt right, an A5 16 will remind you why.

Frequently Asked Questions

What choke tubes come with the Browning A5 16 gauge?

Three flush Invector-DS choke tubes are included: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. The Invector-DS system is interchangeable, so you can swap tubes to match your hunting conditions or clay target disciplines.

Is the stock adjustable for different shooters?

Yes. The composite stock is shim-adjustable for length of pull, cast, and drop. The package includes 1/4" and 1/2" spacers to help you dial in the fit to your frame and shooting style.

What's the difference between the 16 gauge and 12 or 20 gauge?

The 16 gauge offers a middle ground: it's lighter and more efficient than a 12 gauge with less recoil, but delivers a shot payload closer to a 12 than a 20 gauge does. The A5 16 is built on a smaller receiver, which further reduces weight while maintaining a longer sight plane for better pointing characteristics.

Is this shotgun good for hunting and clay shooting?

Yes. The A5 16 is suited to upland and waterfowl hunting, turkey hunting, and sporting clays, depending on the choke tube and load you select.
