The Browning A5 12ga semi-auto shotgun in Mossy Oak Bottomland is a refined workhorse for waterfowl hunters and upland enthusiasts who demand both reliability and concealment. Built on Browning's proven semi-automatic platform, this 12-gauge delivers smooth, dependable cycling for a full day in the field—whether you're targeting ducks on a cold morning or working a September pheasant cover. The composite stock handles wet conditions and hard use without the maintenance demands of wood, while the Mossy Oak Bottomland finish provides effective concealment in marsh and timber settings.
This particular configuration balances maneuverability with reach. The 28-inch barrel strikes the sweet spot for most shotgunning situations: long enough to pattern effectively and shed pellets cleanly, short enough to swing quickly in tight cover or from a boat. At 7 pounds 7 ounces, the A5 carries comfortably through a long day without excessive fatigue. The four-round magazine capacity gives you four shots before reloading—standard for a hunting semi-auto and plenty for most field scenarios.
Browning equipped this A5 with fiber optic and ivory sights, making target acquisition quick and natural whether you're shooting in low light or bright conditions. The included choke set—Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder—covers the spectrum from tight, long-range patterns to open shooting in dense cover or close quarters. That versatility means you can adjust on the fly without swapping shotguns.
If you want a 12-gauge semi-auto that cycles reliably, shoots where you aim, and looks at home in real hunting conditions rather than a cabinet, the Browning A5 deserves a serious look.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Browning A5 semi-auto 12-gauge best used for?
The A5 is purpose-built for waterfowl hunting and upland game hunting. The semi-automatic action and four-round capacity suit dynamic hunting scenarios, while the 28-inch barrel and included choke set provide flexibility across different ranges and cover types.
Does this shotgun come with chokes, and can I switch them?
Yes. The Browning A5 includes three screw-in chokes: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. You can swap them to match your hunting situation—tighter patterns for distance, more open patterns for close work in dense cover.
Is the composite stock durable for hunting in wet conditions?
Composite stocks are built for field use in wet weather and rough handling. They won't swell or rot like wood and require minimal maintenance, making them ideal for waterfowl and wet-climate hunting.
What does Mossy Oak Bottomland camo work best for?
Mossy Oak Bottomland is designed for marsh and timber environments—ideal for duck hunting in wetlands and upland hunting in brush and overgrown areas. The pattern blends naturally with cattails, reeds, mud, and leafless branches.
