The Browning 1911-22 A1 is a single-action rimfire pistol built on the classic 1911 platform and chambered in .22 LR—a perfect choice for shooters who want the ergonomics and controls of America's most iconic handgun without the recoil or cost of full-power centerfire rounds. Whether you're training, plinking, or introducing a new shooter to the 1911 design, this full-size model delivers reliable performance in a lightweight, affordable package.
The steel construction and matte blue finish give it a business-like appearance that respects the original design while keeping maintenance straightforward. At 15 ounces and 7.375 inches overall, it's light enough for extended range sessions but has the heft and feel of a real service pistol. The 4.25-inch barrel provides good sight radius for accurate shooting, while the checkered wood grips offer a classic aesthetic and positive handling.
The single-action trigger, along with the traditional A1-style front and rear sights, means you get pure 1911 manual-of-arms—no decockers, no external safeties to relearn. The 10-round magazine capacity keeps you firing between reloads. This is a shooter's .22, not a range toy: it rewards good fundamentals and lets you practice presentation, transitions, and accuracy without breaking the bank on ammunition.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Browning 1911-22 good for learning 1911 fundamentals?
Yes. It uses the same manual-of-arms as full-size centerfire 1911s—single-action trigger, same safety and controls—so you can build solid muscle memory at a fraction of the cost. The .22 LR round produces minimal recoil, letting you focus on sight picture and trigger control.
What's included with this pistol?
The pistol ships with one 10-round magazine and the fixed A1 sights. Grips are checkered wood.
Can I use this for plinking or casual target shooting?
Absolutely. The .22 LR chambering and light recoil make it ideal for extended plinking sessions, and the matte blue finish and classic 1911 profile make it as much fun to shoot as it is affordable to feed.
How does the weight and size compare to a full-size 1911?
At 15 ounces and 7.375 inches overall, it's lighter and slightly shorter than most centerfire 1911s, but it maintains the full-size profile and ergonomics you'd expect from the Browning design.
