The Auto Ordnance 1927A1 Commando .45 ACP 16.5" rifle brings genuine Thompson submachine gun heritage to the modern semi-automatic rifle market. Built on the proven 1927A1 platform, this Tactical T1C edition pairs the hard-hitting stopping power of .45 ACP with a compact, maneuverable form factor ideal for tactical applications, home defense, or range work. At 13 pounds and 41 inches overall length, it's built to move without sacrificing the substantial presence Thompson rifles are known for.

The Commando features a finned barrel (extending to 18 inches with compensator) that aids heat management and contributes to the rifle's distinctive classic look—parkerized metal paired with durable black-finished wood furniture gives it both authentic character and practical corrosion resistance. The open rear sight is adjustable for elevation, letting you dial in your zero for the distances that matter to you. Ergonomics favor intuitive handling: the horizontal forend and wood grip provide positive control and feedback whether you're working a tactical scenario or putting rounds downrange at the range.

Every Commando ships with one 20-round stick magazine, so you're ready to shoot out of the box. If you've always respected the Thompson's legacy but wanted a semi-automatic rifle built to modern reliability standards, or if you're looking for a uniquely American .45 ACP platform that turns heads and delivers accuracy, the 1927A1 Commando warrants a serious look.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included with the Auto Ordnance 1927A1 Commando?

The rifle ships with one 20-round stick magazine, so you can get on the range or to the field right away. Additional magazines and accessories are available separately.

What's the difference between the 16.5" barrel and the compensator setup?

The Commando's 16.5" barrel is the standard configuration. With the compensator attached, the total barrel length extends to 18 inches, which helps manage muzzle rise and recoil impulse—useful if you're running rapid fire or want a softer shooting experience downrange.

Is the rear sight adjustable?

Yes. The open rear sight is adjustable for elevation, allowing you to zero the rifle for your preferred distance and ammunition combination. The blade front sight is fixed.

Why choose .45 ACP in a rifle platform?

The .45 ACP offers proven stopping power and lower felt recoil than larger rifle cartridges, making it controllable for accurate shooting. It's also compatible with a wide range of ammunition, from target loads to premium defensive rounds. The Commando's .45 ACP platform pays homage to the original Thompson submachine gun's role in American shooting history.
