The Auto Ordnance 1927A-1 Deluxe is a semi-automatic .45 ACP carbine built on the legacy of a legendary submachine gun design—a rifle that brings historical character and proven stopping power to the range or field. With its 16.5-inch finned barrel (extending to 18 inches with the compensator installed), this is a purpose-built platform for shooters who want a compact, handy rifle chambered in America's most iconic pistol round. At 13 pounds and 41 inches overall, it's maneuverable without feeling light or whippy, and the walnut furniture paired with the vertical foregrip gives you real control and a nostalgic, purposeful look.

This deluxe version comes equipped with a blade-style front sight and adjustable open rear sight, letting you get into action without adding optics—though the platform is plenty adaptable if you want to go that route. The fixed walnut stock and integrated vertical foregrip provide a natural shooting position, and the finned barrel isn't just for show; it aids cooling during extended shooting sessions. You get one 50-round drum magazine and one 20-round stick magazine in the box, giving you flexibility for plinking, practice, or serious range time.

The .45 ACP carbine fills a niche: if you're already running .45 ACP pistols, ammo sharing is a real advantage. The platform is reliable, affordable to shoot, and fun in a way that modern tactical rifles sometimes aren't. Whether you're a collector honoring the Thompson's storied past or a shooter who simply appreciates the round and wants a rifle to match, the 1927A-1 Deluxe delivers authenticity without pretense.

Frequently Asked Questions

What .45 ACP magazines work with the Auto Ordnance 1927A-1?

The rifle ships with one 50-round drum magazine and one 20-round stick magazine. For additional or replacement magazines, check with your retailer for aftermarket options designed for this platform.

Can I use .45 ACP ammunition from my pistols in this carbine?

Yes. The 1927A-1 Deluxe is chambered in standard .45 ACP, so you can share ammunition with compatible .45 ACP pistols. This is one of the main practical advantages of the caliber choice.

Is this a good rifle for someone new to shooting?

The .45 ACP round is relatively mild in recoil and the rifle's weight (13 lbs.) helps manage it further, making this a forgiving platform for new shooters. The blade front and open rear sights are straightforward to use, and the vertical foregrip gives good control.

What does the finned barrel do?

The finned barrel aids in heat dissipation during extended shooting sessions, helping keep the barrel cooler during high-volume range days. It's also a distinctive aesthetic that reflects the rifle's historical roots.
