The Zastava Arms USA ZPAP85 5.56mm pistol bridges AK-pattern ergonomics and modern pistol caliber flexibility. Built on a robust receiver with a bulged trunnion and chrome-lined hammer-forged barrel, this short-barreled rifle-style pistol cycles both 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington ammunition reliably. It's a genuinely different platform for shooters who want AK-style controls and reliability in a pistol-length package, whether you're setting up a compact range gun, a truck gun, or testing the AK platform in a more nimble form.
The ZPAP85 ships configured for customization and mounting flexibility. The integrated Picatinny rail on the dust cover is ready for optics—red dot, magnified, or whatever your mission demands. A rear Picatinny rail accommodates braces or NFA-compliant stocks depending on your build direction. The booster-style muzzle brake is installed and helps manage recoil and muzzle rise in a compact footprint. Dark wood furniture—including a traditional wood front handguard—gives this gun a classic AK look that stands out among modern pistol builds.
Magazine compatibility is a huge practical win: the ZPAP85 feeds from most AK-pattern magazines in .223 and 5.56 NATO, so you're not locked into proprietary hardware if you already run Zastava or other AK rifles. The thicker 1.5mm receiver and quality heat-treat deliver the durability you'd expect from Zastava's Balkan manufacturing pedigree, without the unpredictable import hassles of less established brands.
