The Winchester XPR Thumbhole in .270 Winchester is a purpose-built bolt-action rifle for hunters and shooters who demand accuracy and control. This is a genuine field rifle with a laminate thumbhole stock—solid, predictable, and built to stay that way. The 24-inch barrel gives you velocity and a handy overall length of 44.5 inches, while the laminate construction resists warping and environmental stress better than traditional wood. Whether you're working from a bench, a shooting rest, or stalking on foot, the thumbhole stock with its raised cheekpiece provides a repeatable grip and consistent sight picture, which is the foundation of good marksmanship.
The action is Winchester's proven bolt-action platform with a matte blued steel receiver drilled and tapped for scope mounts. The free-floating barrel and recessed target crown support accuracy, and the M.O.A. trigger system delivers a crisp, predictable break. You get a two-position thumb safety and a bolt unlock button for smooth operation in the field. The muzzle is threaded and includes a thread protector, opening the door to suppressors or muzzle devices if you want them later.
Practical details matter here: two sling swivel studs on the forearm give you secure attachment points for a sling and a bipod. The vented forearm helps manage barrel heat during shooting sessions. At 8 pounds, it's a manageable carry rifle without excess weight. The magazine holds 3 rounds, and the long-action platform is proven across generations of Winchester rifles.
