The Winchester Xpert Sporter SR is a lightweight, affordable 22 LR bolt-action rifle built for beginners, plinking, and small-game hunting. At 16.5 inches long, it's compact enough for young shooters and fun in the field, yet equipped with genuinely useful features—a precision trigger, threaded barrel, and optics-ready receiver—that let you build a serious small-caliber rig without breaking the bank. Whether you're introducing someone to shooting sports or want a handy 22 for varmint control and target work, the Xpert Sporter SR delivers Winchester's reputation for reliability in a package that won't weigh you down.
The action is a time-tested bolt system with an extended handle for smooth cycling and positive control. The barrel is button-rifled and precision crowned—the kind of attention to detail that separates a rifle you'll enjoy from one you'll tolerate. The receiver and barrel wear a matte black finish for durability, while the stock is satin-finished wood with traditional checkering for secure handling. All metal surfaces are designed to resist rust and wear in the field.
Sights come standard: a ramped post front sight and adjustable rear sight let you get on target immediately, and the rifle is drilled and tapped for scope mounts if you want to add magnification. The trigger is Winchester's three-lever adjustable Rimfire M.O.A. design—crisp and tunable to your preference. The muzzle is threaded 1/2 x 28 TPI and includes a knurled protector, opening the door to suppressors, muzzle devices, or a quality brake. The ambidextrous magazine release, accessible via side-mounted rails or tab, makes the rifle equally at home in right- or left-handed hands.
One 10-round rotary magazine (22 LR) ships with the rifle, and it also accepts popular aftermarket 10/22 magazines, so you'll have no trouble finding spare ammo carriers. The Xpert Sporter SR is purpose-built for shooters who want genuine features and honest craftsmanship without the premium price tag.
