The Winchester Model 70 Extreme Hunter in 6.5 PRC is a modern take on one of hunting's most respected rifle platforms. This 24-inch barreled rifle combines the legendary controlled-feed reliability of the Model 70 with serious weather protection and practical features built for backcountry and mountain hunts where conditions are unforgiving and shots matter.
Tungsten Cerakote finish on both receiver and barrel stands up to hard use in rain, snow, and salt spray without sacrificing the classic Winchester lines hunters expect. The Bell and Carlson synthetic stock—finished in TrueTimber VSX camouflage—won't swell or rot in wet conditions, and the sculpted cheekpiece gives you a solid cheek weld for consistent scope alignment. A Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad tames the 6.5 PRC's sharp kick, making follow-up shots faster and shooting off a bench less punishing.
This rifle handles like a Model 70 should: a free-floating barrel for accuracy, a smooth M.O.A. trigger, three-position safety, and Winchester's pre-'64 style controlled-round-feed action with a claw extractor you can trust in the field. The muzzle brake reduces recoil further, and sling swivel studs are ready for your carry system. Hinged floorplate makes unloading and loading intuitive. Details like the jeweled bolt body and knurled bolt handle work as hard as they look, giving you smooth, snag-free operation even with cold, stiff fingers.
The 6.5 PRC is a serious modern hunting cartridge—plenty of velocity and downrange energy for elk and other big game—and in the Extreme Hunter, you get a rifle built to handle the terrain and weather that come with pursuing them.
