The Winchester Model 70 Super Grade in 6.5 PRC with a 24-inch barrel represents the gold standard for hunters and precision shooters who refuse to compromise on craftsmanship or performance. This rifle builds on Winchester's legendary pre-64 action heritage—a design trusted for generations—while delivering the modern refinements serious hunters demand. The 6.5 PRC cartridge has earned its reputation for delivering flat trajectories and exceptional energy retention at distance, making it equally at home on long-range hunting trips or at the range.
Every detail on this Super Grade speaks to meticulous attention to the craft. The polished blued barrel features a free-floating design and target crown to maximize accuracy potential, while the three-position safety and controlled round feed action inspire confidence in the field. The M.O.A. trigger system breaks cleanly and predictably—a feature serious shooters immediately notice. Hand-selected Grade AAA French walnut stock, finished with an ebony forearm tip and polished steel pistol grip cap, transforms this rifle into something you'll actually want to carry, not just shoot. The shadowline cheekpiece delivers a comfortable, consistent cheek weld shot after shot.
Winchester didn't overlook the details that make a rifle genuinely pleasant to shoot. The jeweled bolt body and knurled bolt handle are as functional as they are beautiful, improving manipulation and durability. A Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad tames the 6.5 PRC's recoil without bulk or excess. The Super Grade engraved hinged floorplate and recessed integral sling swivel studs complete the package—a rifle that handles as well as it performs.
This is the rifle for hunters who understand that precision, reliability, and pride of ownership aren't mutually exclusive. Whether you're executing a 300-yard shot in the mountains or fine-tuning load development at the bench, the Model 70 Super Grade rewards your skill and commitment with consistent, dependable performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the 6.5 PRC a good choice for hunting?
The 6.5 PRC is engineered for hunters who need a flat-shooting, hard-hitting cartridge that retains energy effectively at distance. It delivers excellent ballistics for mountain hunting and long-range field applications without excessive recoil, making it a practical choice for hunts across varied terrain.
Is the free-floating barrel really important for accuracy?
Yes. A free-floating barrel eliminates contact between the barrel and stock, which removes a significant source of inconsistency. Combined with the target crown on this Model 70, it maximizes your rifle's inherent accuracy potential—especially important if you plan to stretch shots beyond 300 yards.
What's included with the rifle?
The rifle ships complete with the Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad, integral sling swivel studs, and hinged floorplate. You'll need to add a scope and rings, ammunition, and a sling to be ready for the field or range.
How does the Grade AAA French walnut stock affect the rifle's performance?
High-grade walnut is selected not only for appearance but for stability—better wood is less prone to warping with temperature and humidity changes, which can shift zero. The shadowline cheekpiece on this Super Grade also promotes consistent cheek weld, directly supporting accurate shot placement.
