The Winchester Model 1886 in 45-90 is a lever-action rifle built on the legacy of one of history's most respected big-game platforms. This Short Rifle Carbine configuration pairs classic Winchester engineering with practical dimensions for hunters and collectors who appreciate substantial caliber performance without excessive length. The 45-90 cartridge delivers the kind of stopping power that made the original 1886 a legend in the field—a genuine classic round that remains effective for hunting and sport shooting where heavy-hitting capability matters.
What sets this carbine apart is its thoughtful balance of tradition and shootability. The Grade I walnut straight-grip stock and carbine-style forearm give you a rifle that handles naturally and points intuitively. The 24-inch round barrel with polished blued finish and steel barrel band provides the weight distribution that makes lever-actions famous for smooth, reliable cycling. The full-length magazine tube holds 8 cartridges, feeding them through the proven Winchester action that has earned its place in gun cabinets for over a century. The steel receiver is finished in polished blue, drilled and tapped for scope or receiver-mounted optics, with a saddle ring for traditional carry or mounting.
Sights are period-appropriate and functional: a carbine ladder-style rear sight and blade front sight let you shoot and hunt right out of the box. The rifle is equally at home as a working hunting rifle, a collector's piece, or the centerpiece of a lever-action enthusiast's safe. If you're drawn to rifles that combine genuine heritage with honest performance, the Model 1886 in 45-90 rewards that confidence.
