The Winchester 70 Super Grade Maple in .30-06 Springfield is a centerpiece rifle for hunters who refuse to compromise on craftsmanship or performance. This bolt-action rifle pairs Winchester's legendary Model 70 action—refined over generations of American hunting—with a showstopping satin maple stock that turns a serious tool into something you'll want to reach for year after year. The high-gloss finish on the metalwork catches light like a promise; the warm wood grain catches the eye. Whether you're scouting elk country, hunting whitetail out to moderate range, or just appreciating mechanical precision at the range, the Super Grade Maple delivers the combination of beauty and reliability that defines Winchester's reputation.
Built around the time-tested .30-06 Springfield—arguably the most versatile rifle cartridge in North America—this rifle handles everything from medium game to larger species with confidence. The 24-inch barrel strikes a practical balance between velocity and packability; the 1:10 twist rate stabilizes conventional .30-06 loads across a wide range of bullet weights. At 8 pounds 2 ounces and 44.75 inches overall, it carries comfortably in the field without feeling like a lightweight compromise. The five-round capacity keeps you in the hunt without excess bulk.
Winchester's Super Grade line has always occupied the middle ground where serious hunters actually live: premium enough to be genuinely beautiful, practical enough to use hard. This Maple version is no exception. The satin finish on the wood resists glare and wear while maintaining that classic, warm aesthetic. Everything about the Super Grade says "I'm here to hunt and I'm built to last."

Frequently Asked Questions
What game can I hunt with a .30-06 Springfield rifle?
The .30-06 is one of North America's most versatile hunting cartridges. With appropriate ammunition selection, it's effective on deer, elk, moose, and other medium to large game. It's been the standard for American hunters for over a century because it simply works across a wide range of hunting situations.
Is this rifle suitable for a beginner hunter?
The Winchester 70 Super Grade is a quality, reliable rifle, though .30-06 recoil is moderate to noticeable. If you're new to rifle hunting, we'd recommend handling one in person to ensure fit and comfort. The rifle itself is mechanically straightforward and forgiving—Winchester's bolt-action design is famously user-friendly.
What does the 1:10 barrel twist mean?
A 1:10 twist means the rifling makes one complete rotation every 10 inches of barrel. This twist rate is optimized for stabilizing the range of bullet weights commonly used in .30-06 hunting loads, typically 150 to 180 grain bullets.
Can I use this rifle for long-range target shooting?
The Winchester 70 Super Grade has the mechanical accuracy potential for shooting beyond typical hunting ranges, though how far depends on your ammunition, optics, and shooting skill. Many .30-06 rifles perform well at 300+ yards with quality ammunition. We'd recommend shooting it at your preferred distance before taking it afield.
