The Winchester 70 Super Grade Maple in .300 Win Mag is a classic bolt-action rifle built for hunters who demand beauty alongside performance. This rifle pairs Winchester's legendary Model 70 action with a striking satin maple stock and high-gloss metal finish—a combination that turns heads at the range or in the field. The .300 Win Mag delivers the velocity and energy long-range hunters expect, making this Super Grade an excellent choice for elk, moose, and distant mountain game where precision and power matter.

Winchester engineered the Model 70 action around a controlled-round-feed system that hunters have trusted for generations. The 26-inch barrel is twist-rated at 1:10, providing the stability needed for consistent accuracy downrange. At 8 pounds 6 ounces, this rifle balances shootability with manageable recoil management—substantial enough for stability without excessive heft during long hunts. The five-round capacity keeps your follow-up shots quick if needed.

What sets the Super Grade apart is the wood. Satin maple stock work conveys quality without the high-maintenance gloss finish that collects fingerprints and glare. The high-gloss receiver and barrel create contrast and durability, catching light while resisting the elements. At 46.75 inches overall, it's a full-length rifle that suits standard shooting positions and doesn't compromise sight radius or barrel length.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Winchester 70 Super Grade Maple best used for?

The .300 Win Mag caliber is ideal for elk, moose, and long-range hunting scenarios where you need velocity and energy beyond typical shorter-range cartridges. The 26-inch barrel and 1:10 twist support modern .300 Win Mag loads, and the rifle's balance makes it suitable for both stationary shooting and backcountry hunts.

Can I mount a scope on the Winchester 70 Super Grade?

The Winchester 70 platform accepts standard Picatinny rail mounts and traditional scope bases. You'll want to verify specific mounting hardware compatibility with your preferred optic, but the rifle's drilled-and-tapped receiver is designed for conventional scope installation.

How does the satin maple stock compare to other finishes?

Satin maple provides a natural, professional appearance that's easier to maintain than high-gloss wood finishes. It resists fingerprints and requires less frequent cleaning and conditioning, making it practical for field use while retaining the classic aesthetics hunters expect from a rifle like the Super Grade.

What does the 1:10 twist rate mean for ammunition selection?

The 1:10 twist stabilizes a wide range of .300 Win Mag bullet weights. You'll get reliable accuracy across factory ammunition and handloads in the typical hunting weight ranges for this caliber, providing flexibility for different game and shooting conditions.
