The Winchester 70 Safari Express in .458 Win Mag is a purpose-built rifle for hunters pursuing dangerous game on the African continent or anywhere extreme power and reliability are non-negotiable. This bolt-action rifle chambers one of the most respected magnum cartridges in the world, delivering the stopping power required for thick-skinned, heavy-bodied animals. If you're planning a serious dangerous-game hunt and need a rifle that combines classic handling with modern accuracy and durability, the Safari Express is engineered to deliver.

Winchester's legendary Model 70 action forms the foundation here, and the Safari Express variant honors decades of proven performance in the field. The rifle features a controlled-round-feed claw extractor (pre-'64 style), dual integral recoil lugs bedded front and rear, and a three-position safety that's been refined over generations. The cold hammer-forged, free-floating barrel is crowned at the muzzle to protect the rifling and support consistent accuracy shot after shot. A stainless-steel one-piece bottom metal with floorplate provides structural rigidity, while dual decorative steel crossbolts reinforce the stock under heavy recoil. The Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad absorbs punishment from magnum loads so you can focus on the shot.

Ergonomics matter on a dangerous-game hunt, where speed and precision are survival. The satin walnut stock features cut checkering and a deluxe cheekpiece that positions your eye quickly and consistently—whether you're shooting open sights or mounting a scope. Fully adjustable rear express sights and a hooded brass bead front sight are ready to go out of the box, and the matte-finished metal surfaces prevent glare in bright conditions. The M.O.A. trigger system delivers zero take-up, zero creep, and zero overtravel for accuracy without surprise. At 9 pounds and 44.75 inches overall, the Safari Express balances firepower with practical weight in the field.

This is a rifle built to handle the recoil, the dust, and the pressure of a once-in-a-lifetime hunt. Winchester didn't cut corners on the Safari Express—it's a serious tool for serious hunters.
