The Winchester Model 70 Extreme Hunter in 7mm Rem Mag with a 26-inch barrel is purpose-built for serious hunters who refuse to compromise in tough terrain. This is rifle crafted to endure—from high-altitude hunts in foul weather to long-range shots where precision matters most. The Extreme Hunter brings together Winchester's legendary Pre-'64 controlled feed action with modern materials and finishes designed to handle extreme conditions without sacrificing accuracy or reliability.
The barreled action wears a protective FDE Cerakote finish, while the free-floating sporter-weight barrel—fluted for reduced weight without surrendering stiffness—is topped with a Tungsten Cerakote muzzle brake. These aren't cosmetic touches; they're practical upgrades for a rifle that needs to function in rain, snow, and dust. The bell and Carlson synthetic stock is completely impervious to moisture and won't swell, shrink, or warp, keeping your zero consistent across seasons. A sculpted cheekpiece provides a natural weld for optic work, and the TrueTimber Strata finish breaks up your outline in diverse terrain.
Winchester equipped this rifle with a M.O.A. trigger system, three-position safety, and their signature controlled round feed and ejection—the same reliable mechanics that have made the Model 70 the standard for generations. A jeweled bolt body and knurled handle add both function and tradition. The Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad absorbs the 7mm's kick, and sling swivel studs are ready for field carry. Hinged floorplate makes loading and unloading intuitive.
For hunters who live in demanding country—or simply demand a rifle that earns its keep—the Winchester 70 Extreme Hunter is built to deliver, year after year, in conditions where lesser rifles fold.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Winchester 70 suitable for long-range hunting?
Yes. The 7mm Rem Mag caliber is a proven long-range cartridge, and the free-floating fluted barrel is built for consistent accuracy. The sculpted cheekpiece in the synthetic stock provides a solid weld for scope work, and the three-position safety and M.O.A. trigger support precision shooting.
Will the synthetic stock and Cerakote finishes hold up to harsh weather?
That's the whole design philosophy. The Bell and Carlson synthetic stock is impervious to moisture—it won't swell, shrink, or warp in wet conditions. The FDE and Tungsten Cerakote finishes on the barreled action provide durable corrosion resistance, making this rifle suited for extreme conditions.
Does this rifle come with a scope or mounting system?
The information provided does not specify whether a scope is included. Contact us to confirm what's included with your rifle and to discuss mounting options.
What does the muzzle brake do?
The muzzle brake helps manage recoil, reducing felt kick and muzzle rise. This is especially useful with a 7mm Rem Mag, which generates significant recoil, allowing better control for follow-up shots and improved shooting comfort during extended range sessions or hunts.
