The Winchester Model 70 Extreme Hunter in .270 Winchester is a rifle built for serious hunters who refuse to compromise on durability or performance. This 22-inch barreled bolt-action rifle pairs Winchester's legendary controlled round feed action with a modern, weather-resistant platform designed to handle hard hunting in tough conditions. The Tungsten Cerakote finish on both receiver and barrel resists corrosion and wear, while the free-floating barrel supports inherent accuracy—a combination that puts clean hits downrange when it counts.

The synthetic stock from Bell and Carlson features a sculpted cheekpiece for consistent scope alignment and the TrueTimber VSX camouflage finish that works across diverse terrain. The muzzle brake helps manage recoil, making follow-up shots faster and more controllable—especially valuable in the field when a second opportunity is rare. A Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad absorbs impact, reducing shooter fatigue during long days afield. The hinged floorplate allows field-expedient ammo changes, and the three-position safety keeps your trigger-finger mindful of safety protocol.

Winchester engineered this rifle around rifle fundamentals: the recessed target crown protects the barrel crown from damage, the M.O.A. trigger breaks cleanly, and the jeweled bolt body and knurled bolt handle add both durability and appeal. Sling swivel studs are already fitted, so mounting a quality sling takes minutes. The Model 70 Extreme Hunter in .270 Winchester delivers the accuracy, reliability, and ruggedness that have made the Model 70 a standard in American hunting for generations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the .270 Winchester best suited for?

The .270 Winchester is a versatile, flat-shooting round favored by hunters pursuing medium to large game—deer, elk, and similar species—across varied distances. Its proven ballistics and wide ammunition availability make it a go-to choice for North American hunting.

Does the Model 70 Extreme Hunter come with a scope?

No. This rifle ships as a barreled action without optics. You'll need to select and mount a scope appropriate for your hunting style and distances.

Why does the stock have sling swivel studs?

The factory-installed sling swivel studs allow you to attach a hunting sling quickly—essential for keeping your rifle stable and accessible during long days in the field or during walking hunts.

What does the muzzle brake do?

The muzzle brake redirects gas and recoil impulse to reduce felt recoil and muzzle rise, helping you manage the .270 Winchester's kick and make faster, more accurate follow-up shots.
