The Weatherby Orion 12 gauge over/under shotgun is a versatile field gun built for hunters who refuse to compromise between performance and craftsmanship. With a 26-inch barrel and forged steel receiver, this shotgun delivers the classic handling and pointability that make over/under designs a favorite for upland, waterfowl, and clay shooting. The Grade A walnut stock and traditional box lock action give it the looks and feel of a gun you'll want to own for decades.
What sets the Orion apart is its balance and swing—the kind of shotgun that becomes an extension of your body in the field. Whether you're mounting on a fast-crossing pheasant, tracking a passing duck, or working targets at the trap range, the geometry and weight distribution are dialed in for effortless follow-through. The MC3 stock and 14.625-inch length of pull provide a comfortable, natural fit for most shooters, and the overall length of 43.75 inches keeps things manageable in brush and tight spaces.
The Orion comes ready to shoot with a set of interchangeable choke tubes—Improved Cylinder, Modified, and Full—so you can dial in the right pattern for your distance and game. The brass bead sight is simple and fast, keeping your eye where it needs to be. At 7 pounds, it's light enough for a day in the field but substantial enough to soak up recoil without flinch. This is a shotgun that respects tradition without feeling stuck in the past—modern reliability wrapped in timeless design.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the Orion 12 gauge good for—hunting, clay shooting, or both?
Both. The 26-inch barrel and balanced handling make it equally at home hunting upland birds and waterfowl or breaking targets at the range. The interchangeable choke system lets you adapt quickly between hunting and sport shooting without swapping guns.
Will this fit a smaller-framed shooter?
The length of pull is 14.625 inches, which is standard for most adult shooters. If you're significantly smaller or larger than average, a gunsmith can adjust the stock or you may want to confirm fit before purchasing.
What choke tubes come with the gun?
The Orion includes three interchangeable chokes: Improved Cylinder (open pattern for close work), Modified (middle ground for general hunting), and Full (tighter pattern for longer distances).
Is the Weatherby Orion a quality gun for long-term use?
Yes. The forged steel receiver, Grade A walnut stock, and traditional box lock design are built for durability. This is a shotgun designed to be used and kept for many seasons.
