The Weatherby Mark V High Country .300 Wby Mag 28" left-handed rifle is purpose-built for hunters who refuse to compromise between firepower and packability. At just 5.7 lbs, this left-hand-configured magnum rifle proves that serious mountain hunting doesn't require hauling a beast. The High Country pairs Weatherby's legendary .300 Weatherby Magnum cartridge—a proven long-range elk and mountain game round—with a lightweight platform engineered specifically for backcountry access and high-elevation pursuits where every ounce matters.
What makes this rifle exceptional is the combination of weight savings without sacrificing rigidity or recoil management. The Peak 44 Bastion carbon fiber stock weighs just 24 oz and features a shooter-friendly vertical grip plus dual front swivel studs for flexible attachment options. The 28-inch spiral fluted barrel isn't just a weight-reduction trick—the fluting increases surface area for better heat dissipation during extended range sessions or field use. An AccuBrake muzzle brake and 3DHEX recoil pad work together to tame the .300 Wby Mag's considerable kick, making the rifle shootable even during long practice strings or when adrenaline is running high in the field.
Finish is purpose-driven: Graphite Black Cerakote on the barrel, receiver, trigger guard, bolt, bolt knob, and safety stands up to mountain weather and scratches better than blued steel. The exposed carbon fiber stock with WYO brown and backpack sponge pattern accents blends function with aesthetics—you get durability and a rifle that looks as capable as it performs. The left-hand configuration ensures proper ergonomics for left-shooting hunters who shouldn't have to settle for right-hand-only offerings in premium rifles.
This is the rifle for serious mountain hunters—those willing to invest in quality glass and ammunition but who won't accept a pack-killer. Whether you're pursuing elk in the Colorado high country, mule deer in broken terrain, or other demanding mountain game, the Mark V High Country delivers magnum ballistics in a platform that respects the miles you're willing to walk.
