The Weatherby Mark V Backcountry 2.0 in 6.5-300 Wby Mag is a left-hand bolt-action rifle engineered for hunters who refuse to compromise between firepower and packability. Built on Weatherby's proven Mark V steel action, this 28-inch left-hand rifle strips down to just 6.2 lbs—light enough to carry all day in steep country, yet chambered in one of the fastest magnum cartridges available. If you're a backcountry elk or long-range hunting enthusiast who values raw velocity without the weight penalty, this left-hand Backcountry 2.0 is purpose-built for you.

The rifle's weight savings start with a fluted #1 MOD contour barrel and extend through the bolt body, which sports pronounced spiral fluting that reduces bearing surface while keeping function smooth and reliable. The standout feature is the new Peak 44 Blacktooth carbon fiber stock—a genuine lightweight upgrade that tips the scales under 20 ounces on its own. Paired with the second-generation 3DHEX recoil pad (a 3D-printed innovation with interlocking voids that absorb and spread magnum recoil impulse), even the hot 6.5-300 Wby Mag becomes genuinely pleasant to shoot despite its serious velocity.

Handling and control details matter in the field. The newly-threaded bolt handle wears a skeletonized aluminum knob for weight and speed of operation. Up front, the Weatherby Accubrake ST (with 30 symmetrically-spaced ports) tames recoil while blending seamlessly with the barrel profile. Cosmetically, Patriot Brown Cerakote protects the action and barrel, while the carbon fiber stock is accented with a brown and green sponge pattern—rugged aesthetics that match the rifle's mission.

With a 48-inch overall length, 13.5-inch length of pull, and 1-in-8 twist rate, this left-hand rifle handles the heavy 6.5-300 Wby Mag cartridge with a 3+1 magazine capacity. It's not a lightweight rifle pretending to be tactical—it's a serious mountain hunting platform that delivers velocity, accuracy, and shootability without the weight compromise most hunters expect to accept.
