The Weatherby Mark V Apex is a lightweight long-range hunting rifle built on the proven Mark V steel action and chambered in .30-378 Weatherby Magnum. If you're serious about backcountry hunts where every ounce matters but you refuse to compromise on accuracy or the power to reach distant game, this rifle brings together Weatherby's legendary magnum engineering with modern materials and recoil management that make shooting a magnum cartridge genuinely pleasant. The 26" barrel wears a distinctive two-tone Cerakote finish—Coyote Tan and Graphite Black—that's as functional as it is sharp.

At its core, the Mark V Apex prioritizes reduced weight without sacrificing rigidity or performance. The Peak 44 Bastion stock is a standout: machined from carbon fiber and finished to just 23 ounces, it features an ambidextrous palm swell and substantial thumb groove designed to support proper shooting form across all positions. Dual swivel studs on the forend give you flexibility in mounting support gear. The bolt body uses spiral fluting to trim unnecessary weight while promoting smoother, more reliable cycling. A 3DHEX recoil pad—a 3D-printed innovation with interlocking voids that progressively collapse during recoil—extends the impulse over time, meaningfully reducing felt kick even from a magnum round. The Accubrake ST muzzle brake with 30 symmetrically-spaced ports further tames recoil without adding unnecessary length or weight.

This is a rifle engineered for hunters who glass from ridges and make ethical shots at distance. The .30-378 Weatherby Magnum delivers serious velocity and energy for elk, moose, and large game at ranges where precision and power matter. The 3-round capacity keeps you mobile, and the synthetic stock means you're not babying the finish in rain, dust, or snow—it's built to be used.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Mark V Apex different from a standard Mark V rifle?

The Apex combines the proven Mark V action with a Peak 44 Bastion carbon fiber stock, spiral-fluted bolt, 3DHEX recoil pad, and Weatherby Accubrake ST—all designed to reduce weight and manage the considerable recoil of magnum chamberings while maintaining accuracy and handling. Every component choice prioritizes backcountry hunters who need reliability without unnecessary bulk.

Is the .30-378 Weatherby Magnum suitable for long-range hunting?

Yes. The .30-378 Weatherby Magnum is built for velocity and energy at distance, making it capable for elk, moose, and large game at extended ranges where precision matters. Pair it with quality optics, ammunition, and your own skillset, and this rifle is engineered to perform.

How much does the carbon fiber stock weigh?

The Peak 44 Bastion stock weighs just 23 ounces, making it one of the lightest production vertical-grip carbon fiber stocks on the market.

Does the Accubrake ST reduce felt recoil?

Yes, in combination with the 3DHEX recoil pad. The Accubrake ST has 30 symmetrically-spaced ports that manage recoil impulse, and the 3D-printed pad extends the recoil event over time, progressively collapsing to absorb energy and reduce the sharp kick typical of magnum rounds.
