The Traditions Frontier 1873 Standard .45 LC revolver is a single-action reproduction built for shooters and collectors who appreciate classic American firearms with genuine cowboy credentials. This 4.75-inch barrel model combines historical authenticity with practical safety features—a transfer bar mechanism that modern shooters expect, paired with the timeless handling and simplicity of a period-correct single-action design. The color case hardened finish on the steel frame delivers that traditional look without the maintenance burden of raw steel, while the walnut grip provides a comfortable, time-tested hold.

Whether you're shooting Cowboy Action events, working on your long-range pistol skills, or simply want a reliable .45 LC revolver that feels and functions like the guns from a century ago, the Frontier delivers both form and function. Traditions engineered this as a 6-shot revolver, so you get a full cylinder—no compromise on capacity. The color case hardened steel frame and authentic proportions make it as much a pleasure to handle as to shoot, and the design keeps maintenance straightforward for regular use or storage.

This isn't a safe-queens-only piece: the transfer bar safety system means you can safely carry all six chambers loaded, and the proven single-action mechanism responds to the kind of deliberate trigger control that builds real marksmanship. If you've been searching for a .45 LC revolver that respects the original design while meeting modern safety standards, the Frontier 1873 Standard bridges that gap.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Traditions Frontier 1873 safe to carry with a full cylinder?

Yes. The transfer bar safety system allows you to safely carry all six chambers loaded. The mechanism prevents the firing pin from striking the primer unless the trigger is deliberately pulled, which is the highest safety standard for single-action revolvers.

What's the difference between this and a genuine antique 1873?

This is an authentic reproduction with modern manufacturing standards and materials. The design, proportions, and appearance match the original 1873 single-action revolver, but you get the reliability and safety features of contemporary firearms—including the transfer bar system—along with easier maintenance and more affordable pricing.

Can I use this for Cowboy Action Shooting?

Yes. The Frontier 1873 Standard is built to period-correct specifications and is a natural fit for Cowboy Action events and similar single-action shooting disciplines. The 4.75-inch barrel and .45 LC caliber are classic tournament standards.
