The Tokarev TAR 12P is an AR-style semi-auto shotgun built for shooters who want modern rifle ergonomics and modularity in 12 gauge. With an 18.5" barrel and a 3" chamber, this gas-operated platform delivers the controls and handling you already know from your AR—safety lever, rail-mounted optics compatibility, and straightforward takedown—but in a shotgun package. Whether you're setting up a home-defense rig, running tactical training, or building a dedicated competition gun, the TAR 12P scales to your needs.
The included 5-round magazine gets you started, but the platform supports higher-capacity options (10-round and 20-round drum magazines available separately), so you're not locked into a single setup. The proof-tested 4140 steel barrel is paired with a full suite of choke tubes—full, modified, and skeet—plus a wrench, so you can tune shot pattern and velocity for whatever discipline or game you're pursuing. M1913 picatinny rail on the receiver means fast mounting of red dots, magnified optics, or backup sights; polymer folding sights come installed as standard.
Tokarev built the TAR 12P on field-proven piston-driven gas system principles, which means reliable operation across a wide range of 12-gauge ammunition without the maintenance burden of some competing designs. The AR-pattern controls—safety, trigger setup, magazine release—make this shotgun instantly familiar if you run an AR platform rifle. It's a modern combat shotgun that respects both tradition and innovation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this shotgun run standard 2¾" ammunition?
Yes. The TAR 12P is chambered in 3", so it cycles both 3" and 2¾" 12-gauge rounds reliably.
Can I mount a red dot or scope?
Absolutely. The receiver is fitted with an M1913 picatinny rail, so you can mount any standard optic, laser, or light system designed for AR-pattern platforms.
What comes in the box?
The shotgun ships with a 5-round magazine, a complete set of three choke tubes (full, modified, and skeet), a choke tube wrench, polymer folding sights, and an owner's manual. Optional 10-round and 20-round drum magazines are available separately.
Is this shotgun suitable for home defense or tactical use?
Yes. The AR-style controls, short 18.5" barrel, and rail-mounted optics platform make it well-suited for home defense setups and tactical training. The familiar ergonomics mean faster, more intuitive handling if you're experienced with AR rifles.
