The Taylors & Company Chiappa 1865 Spencer Rifle in .56-50 brings historical authenticity and real shooting capability to black powder enthusiasts, Civil War reenactors, and anyone drawn to lever-action rifles with genuine heritage. This is a faithful reproduction of one of the most iconic repeating rifles of the 19th century—a firearm that saw action during the Civil War and earned respect for its rate of fire and reliability. At 30 inches of barrel and 47 inches overall, it's a manageable rifle that balances period character with practical handling in the field or at the range.
Built on a lever-action mechanism, the Spencer loads six rounds and delivers them with the smooth, intuitive cycling that made the original a soldier's favorite. The walnut furniture and blued steel barrel with case-hardened receiver create a classic appearance that respects the rifle's legacy without sacrificing modern manufacturing quality. The ladder and fixed sights are period-correct and functional, allowing you to engage targets at multiple distances—a practical feature that echoes the original design's combat heritage.
Weighing in at 10.6 pounds, this rifle sits in a sweet spot for shooters who want authentic handling without excessive fatigue during a day at the range or in the field. Whether you're exploring your interest in historical firearms, building a collection of classic lever actions, or seeking a rifle with genuine character and proven mechanical design, the Spencer delivers on all counts. The .56-50 chambering is period-appropriate and adds to the rifle's historical accuracy.
