The Taylors & Company 1873 Cattleman 44-40 revolver brings authentic Old West character to the range or trail. Built on a New Model frame and chambered in the classic 44-40 cartridge, this 7.5-inch barrel revolver is a faithful reproduction of the iconic Peacemaker that defined an era. Whether you're into cowboy action shooting, historical reenactment, or just appreciate the timeless appeal of a single-action revolver, the Cattleman delivers genuine period looks backed by solid, functional design.
The 44-40 has real heritage—it was the cartridge that made the Peacemaker a legend on the frontier, and it remains popular among shooters who value that historical connection. The Cattleman's New Model frame includes a spring-retained quick-release cylinder pin for smooth handling, and the smaller Navy-size grip feels natural in the hand for shooters who prefer a slimmer profile. The case-hardened frame contrasts beautifully with the blued steel parts, giving it that authentic period finish that catches the eye without looking overdone.
Fixed sights—a wide front blade and rear frame notch—keep things simple and reliable, the way they were made. At 2.70 pounds and 13.1 inches overall, it handles like a proper single-action should. If you want to refine the trigger and action, Taylors & Company offers Taylor Tuning on this model, letting you customize the feel to your preference. Walnut grips complete the classic package.
This is a revolver built for shooters who understand that authenticity and function aren't mutually exclusive. The 44-40 Cattleman works equally well as a range gun, a shooter's collectible, or a working revolver for those who still value traditional iron sights and single-action simplicity.
