Frequently Asked Questions
Can I shoot .38 Special in this .357 Magnum revolver?
Yes. The .357 Magnum chamber will safely fire .38 Special ammunition, making this revolver versatile for practice with lighter loads or for shooters who prefer the lower recoil and cost of .38 Special.
What's the difference between this revolver and modern semi-automatic pistols?
Single-action revolvers like the 1873 operate on proven, straightforward mechanics: point, cock the hammer, pull the trigger. There's no safety lever to manipulate, no magazine to manage, and the gun functions the same way it did 150 years ago. Some shooters and hunters prefer this simplicity and reliability, especially in field conditions.
Is this revolver suitable for hunting?
The .357 Magnum is a capable hunting cartridge, and the 5.5" barrel provides sufficient barrel length for practical velocity. Hunters often use single-action revolvers for hunting medium game and varmints, particularly those who value the traditional appeal and mechanical reliability of the platform.
