The Taylors & Company 1873 .357 Mag lever action rifle carries the spirit of the rifle that won the West—refined, reliable, and built for shooters who appreciate classic American gunsmithing. This 2012 model brings authentic Winchester-heritage handling to modern hunters and sport shooters who demand a fast-cycling, versatile lever gun. Chambered in .357 Magnum, it punches above its weight class for hunting medium game and delivers plenty of range time fun without punishing your shoulder. The 18-inch octagonal barrel balances fast target acquisition with genuine portability—perfect for brush country hunting or ranch work where maneuverability counts.
Build quality starts with the marriage of form and function: a walnut checkered pistol grip stock and forend that feel solid in your hands, paired with a case-hardened frame that develops character as you use it. The brown finish on this rifle (a darker, warmer tone than standard blue) gives it genuine field aesthetics—no tacky coating, just honest metal that ages well. Ten-round capacity means you're never starved for firepower in a pinch, and the .357 Mag cartridge keeps ammunition costs reasonable compared to larger rifle rounds while staying potent enough for real-world use.
Sights come ready to work: a buckhorn rear sight and blade front sight configured for quick target acquisition at hunting distances. The action cycles smooth and reliable, a hallmark of the 1873 design that's remained largely unchanged because it simply works. Whether you're running this rifle at an Cowboy Action Shooting match, hunting hogs in thick country, or just keeping a working rifle on the rack, the Taylors & Company 1873 delivers the performance and aesthetics serious shooters expect from a lever gun.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the .357 Magnum good for in a rifle like this?
.357 Magnum from a rifle barrel delivers plenty of velocity and energy for hunting medium-sized game, hogs, and varmints out to reasonable hunting distances. It's also an excellent choice for Cowboy Action Shooting competition and provides recoil-friendly practice ammunition at a lower cost than larger rifle calibers.
Is this rifle good for hunting?
Yes. The 18-inch barrel and compact 37-inch overall length make it nimble in brush and timber, while the .357 Magnum cartridge has sufficient power for medium game. The lever action cycles fast, and the fixed sights are adequate for typical hunting ranges.
Can I use .38 Special ammunition in this rifle?
No. This rifle is chambered in .357 Magnum only. Do not fire .38 Special or any other cartridge in this firearm.
What does the 2012 model designation mean?
The 2012 model year designation identifies this as a rifle from Taylors & Company's 2012 production run. It refers to the manufacturing year, not a specific feature or action option.
