The Taurus Judge 45 Colt/410 Gauge revolver is a versatile wheelgun built for shooters who want flexibility without swapping firearms. Chambered for both .45 Colt and 2.5-inch .410 shotshells, this 5-round revolver gives you the option to load .45 rounds for precision or .410 shells for spreading shot—useful whether you're hunting small game, handling pests, or staying ready for home defense. The 3-inch barrel keeps it reasonably compact while delivering the ballistics both calibers are known for, and the matte black oxide finish resists corrosion in field use.
What sets this Judge apart is the Taurus Optics Ready Option (T.O.R.O.) mounting system built into the frame. If you want to add an optic down the road—a red dot or small scope—the receiver is already prepared, so you're not locked into iron sights. The revolver ships with a fiber optic front sight and a fixed rear sight, giving you a decent sight picture out of the box. Double/single-action trigger lets you carry safely with the hammer down, then fire through a deliberate double-action press, or cock the hammer for a lighter single-action break.
At 29 ounces unloaded and just under 9.5 inches overall, the Judge is manageable in a belt holster or bedside table without being overly compact. Alloy steel frame and cylinder with matte black oxide finish are typical Taurus durability, and the transfer bar safety prevents accidental discharge if the gun is dropped. This is a revolver that rewards shooters who appreciate dual-caliber flexibility and aren't afraid to try something different.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I shoot both .45 Colt and .410 shells in the same cylinder?
Yes. The Judge is designed to chamber both .45 Colt rounds and 2.5-inch .410 shotshells. You can load a mix in the same cylinder if you want, though most shooters dedicate a session to one or the other.
Can I mount an optic on the Taurus Judge?
Yes, this model includes the Taurus Optics Ready Option (T.O.R.O.) system, meaning the frame is prepared for mounting a compatible reflex or small-frame optic. Optics and mounting hardware are sold separately.
What sights come standard?
The revolver ships with a fiber optic front sight and a fixed rear sight, allowing you to aim effectively out of the box without accessory purchases.
Is this revolver good for home defense or hunting?
The Judge's dual-caliber flexibility makes it suitable for multiple roles. The .45 Colt offers precision, while .410 shells deliver shot spread for small game and pests. Ultimately, your training, local laws, and specific use case should guide your decision.
