The Taurus 942 is a compact 2-inch .22 WMR revolver built for shooters who want a lightweight, low-recoil option for concealed carry, recreational plinking, or marksmanship practice. This stainless steel model holds eight rounds and combines the reliability of a proven revolver platform with the ballistics of the .22 Magnum cartridge—giving you more velocity and energy than standard .22 LR while staying manageable in a small frame. Whether you're working through drills at the range, introducing someone to centerfire shooting, or looking for a practical backup piece, the 942 delivers straightforward revolver handling without unnecessary bulk or weight.

At under 24 ounces, the 942 won't fatigue your hand or slow your draw. The double-action/single-action trigger gives you the flexibility to work the gun however suits your situation, while the transfer bar safety ensures the gun won't fire if dropped. Sights are simple and functional: a serrated ramp up front and a drift-adjustable rear blade. The matte stainless finish resists corrosion and pairs well with the small frame—this is a utilitarian revolver, not a showpiece.

With an overall length of 6.6 inches and a 1.34-inch width, the Taurus 942 slides into most holster systems designed for compact snub-nose revolvers. The 2-inch barrel keeps velocity respectable while preserving concealability and point-shooting speed at typical defensive distances. This is solid, no-nonsense hardware: dependable, affordable, and honest about what it is.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Taurus 942 good for concealed carry?

Yes. At 23.6 ounces with a 2-inch barrel and 6.6-inch overall length, the 942 is compact and light enough for everyday carry in a belt holster, pocket holster, or ankle rig. The small frame doesn't print heavily under most clothing, and the snub-nose profile makes it easy to handle in tight quarters.

What's the difference between .22 WMR and standard .22 LR?

The .22 Magnum (.22 WMR) produces higher velocity and energy than .22 Long Rifle, making it more effective for small-game hunting and target work. It's a step up in power while still offering low recoil and manageable noise, making it ideal for training or recreational shooting without flinching.

Can I adjust the sights on the 942?

Yes. The rear sight is drift-adjustable, allowing you to zero the gun to your preferred point of aim at the range. The front sight is a serrated ramp fixed in place.

What does the transfer bar safety do?

The transfer bar is a mechanical safety that prevents the hammer from striking the firing pin unless the trigger is fully pressed. This protects against accidental discharge if the revolver is dropped or struck.
