The Standard Mfg SKO-12 AR 12 gauge semi-auto shotgun brings AR-platform ergonomics and modularity to the shotgun world. Built on a billet aluminum upper and forged aluminum lower receiver—both finished with mil-spec hard coat anodizing—the SKO-12 delivers the familiarity of AR controls with the stopping power of a 12 gauge. This is a serious choice for tactical shooters, home defense, and sport shooting who want the customization and speed of an modern rifle platform in shotgun form.
The SKO-12 runs a gas-operated system designed for smooth, reliable cycling across both 2¾" and 3" ammunition. Its 18.5" steel barrel is threaded to accept aftermarket chokes, giving you flexibility to dial in patterns for different roles—tighter for distance, looser for close quarters. A 5-round detachable magazine keeps you feeding ammunition fast, and the adjustable stock lets you dial in your preferred length of pull whether you're running it in tactical kit or at the range.
Accessory mounting is a strength here. A full-length Picatinny rail on the upper receiver accommodates optics, lasers, and other sighting systems, while a rail point on the fore grip accepts additional Magpul MOE rails for lights, foregrips, or whatever your setup demands. The SKO-12 uses familiar AR-style controls—pistol grip, safety selector, magazine release—so if you already run AR rifles, the manual of arms is second nature. Internal components wear a salt bath nitride finish for corrosion resistance in field use.
At just over 7.5 pounds unloaded and 38 inches extended, the SKO-12 balances firepower with manageability. Whether you're setting up a home defense platform, building a competition gun, or exploring what modern shotgun design can do, the SKO-12's blend of reliability, modularity, and AR-familiar handling makes it worth serious consideration.
