The Sig Sauer P229 Legion 9mm pistol is a compact, refined carry gun built for shooters who demand precision, control, and reliability in a duty-sized package. This 3.9-inch barrel variant bridges the gap between full-size handling and genuine concealment, finished in Legion Gray Cerakote Elite with purpose-built ergonomics designed by shooters, for shooters. If you're looking for a 9mm compact pistol that feels as good in a defensive role as it does on the range, the P229 Legion is engineered to earn that trust.

Ergonomics are where the Legion truly shines. The reduced and contoured beavertail rides higher in your hand while maintaining a low profile to prevent printing. Aggressive front strap checkering and additional texture under the trigger guard fight hand slip under stress. Sig added an X-Five undercut to the trigger guard—a competitive shooting refinement—giving you a higher purchase and better control when it matters. Front cocking serrations make press checks and manual cycling smooth and positive. Both the decocking and slide catch levers are low-profile, designed to reduce snagging risk during everyday carry or tactical movement.

The trigger is where Legion pistols separate themselves from standard production P229s. You're getting an enhanced, polished single-action trigger developed with Short-Reset Trigger (SRT) technology and refined further by Grayguns Inc.'s P-SAIT design. The flat trigger shoe feels purposeful without being gimmicky. A solid steel guide rod adds weight and balance where it belongs. Sig's X-RAY sights deliver daylight brightness and night visibility without relying on tritium charging—useful if you train inconsistently or carry for extended periods. The gun ships optic-ready, giving you the option to mount a red dot down the road if your mission evolves.

Built on a stainless steel slide and alloy frame, the P229 Legion tips the scales at 31.7 ounces—substantial enough to manage recoil and maintain control, light enough for all-day carry. Three 10-round steel magazines come in the box. If you're in a restricted state, this model meets Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York compliance standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Sig Sauer P229 Legion good for concealed carry?

Yes. The 3.9-inch barrel and compact size make it suitable for everyday carry, especially for shooters who prioritize control and ergonomics over maximum ammo capacity. The reduced beavertail and low-profile levers help minimize printing, and the 31.7-ounce weight is manageable with a quality holster. That said, only you know your carry situation—fit it to your lifestyle, training, and comfort level.

What's included in the box?

The P229 Legion ships with three 10-round steel magazines and the pistol itself. No case, cleaning kit, or extra accessories are included by default.

Can the P229 Legion accept a red dot sight?

Yes, the slide is optic-ready, allowing you to mount a compatible red dot sight. You'll need to source the specific optic mounting plate and sight that matches the P229 footprint.

Will this pistol work in restricted states?

The P229 Legion is state-compliant for Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York. If you're in one of these states, this model meets legal requirements. Always verify current state and local laws before purchasing.
