The Sig Sauer P226 Legion 9mm SAO is a full-size, single-action pistol built for shooters who want refined ergonomics, reliable performance, and the precision trigger control that comes with SAO operation. This isn't the typical duty-oriented P226—the Legion line represents Sig's premium offering, pairing the proven P226 platform with enhanced controls, premium materials, and a shooter-focused design that works equally well for competition, defense, or range work.

What sets the Legion SAO apart is attention to detail in the places it matters. The 4.4-inch barrel sits atop a stainless steel slide and alloy frame, both finished in Elite Cerakote gray for a clean, durable look. The single-action trigger design uses a flat trigger engineered by SIG Custom Works—a choice that rewards consistent trigger control and finger placement. Underneath, a Grayguns Inc.-designed P-SAIT trigger paired with a short-reset mechanism keeps the action responsive without sacrifice. A solid steel guide rod adds heft where it counts, contributing to a 34-ounce pistol that points and manages recoil with authority.

Ergonomics favor the shooter: aggressive checkering on the front strap and under the trigger guard provide purchase without bulk, while an X-Five undercut allows a higher grip position for enhanced control. The beavertail is contoured and reduced to cut down printing without losing support. Low-profile decocking and slide catch levers stay put during holstering or daily carry. Sig's X-Ray square sights deliver day/night capability, and at 6.3 inches of sight radius, they give you a sight picture that rewards accuracy. The gun also comes optic-ready if you want to mount a red dot—a modern touch on a modern classic.

You get three 10-round steel magazines and black G10 grips with the Legion medallion. The P226 Legion 9mm SAO is a premium tool—straightforward, finely executed, and built to earn rounds downrange.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in the box?

The P226 Legion SAO comes with three 10-round steel magazines and black G10 grips with the Legion medallion already installed.

Can I mount a red dot sight on this pistol?

Yes. The P226 Legion 9mm SAO is optic-ready and features a Sig Rail for accessory mounting, allowing you to add a red dot if you choose.

What states is this pistol legal to own?

The P226 Legion SAO is state-compliant in Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York. Check your local laws before purchase.

How does the single-action flat trigger compare to the DA/SA trigger on other P226 models?

The SAO flat trigger design provides a consistent, predictable break and rewards precise trigger control regardless of where your finger lands on the trigger face. It's a departure from the dual-action/single-action design and is favored by shooters who prioritize accuracy and trigger feel over the versatility of a DA/SA action.
