The Sig Sauer P226 Legion 9mm pistol is a refined, duty-proven full-size handgun built for shooters who demand precision and control in a combat-ready platform. This DA/SA model pairs a 4.4-inch barrel with purpose-engineered ergonomics—aggressive front strap checkering, trigger guard undercut, and front cocking serrations—that transform how the gun handles in your hand. Whether you're training for defensive proficiency, running a flat-range regimen, or carrying professionally, the P226 Legion delivers the kind of reliable execution that has earned the platform respect across law enforcement and civilian operators alike.

Sig's Legion treatment elevates the P226 beyond stock spec. A Grayguns-designed P-SAIT trigger paired with an enhanced polished action and Short-Reset Trigger (SRT) geometry produces a crisp, predictable break. The Elite Cerakote finish in Legion gray resists corrosion and wear, while custom G-10 grips with a Legion medallion provide positive grip purchase and an elegant, purpose-built aesthetic. Low-profile decocking and slide catch levers reduce snag risk during holster work or gear manipulation. A solid steel guide rod anchors the recoil system where it counts, contributing to the 34-ounce weight that aids control and reduces muzzle flip in rapid fire.

The Legion ships with X-Ray night sights (square notch) for reliable target acquisition in variable light. An integral SIG rail accommodates lights, lasers, or both. Three 15-round steel magazines ensure you start with capacity redundancy. The optic-ready slide accepts common reflex sight patterns, opening the door to modern aiming solutions without sacrifice. A reduced, contoured Elite beavertail works in concert with the trigger guard cut to raise your grip hand without printing under cover—a detail that matters when concealment is the mission.

This is the DA/SA variant: the traditional double-action first shot with single-action follow-ups. If you prefer single-action-only mechanics, Sig offers the Legion SAO with a custom flat trigger. Both distill years of P226 field performance into a gun that respects the platform's legacy while pushing capability forward.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the P226 Legion DA/SA and the SAO variant?

This model is a DA/SA (double-action/single-action) pistol, meaning the first trigger press is a longer, heavier double-action stroke, and subsequent shots break in lighter single-action. Sig also offers a Legion SAO (single-action-only) variant with a custom flat trigger for shooters who prefer a consistent, shorter trigger press from round one. Both share the same ergonomic and finish upgrades; the choice comes down to trigger preference and intended use.

Will the P226 Legion accept aftermarket optics?

Yes. The slide is optic-ready and accepts common reflex sight mounting patterns. You'll need to source a compatible mounting plate or adapter for your chosen optic; Sig and third-party manufacturers offer options.

What sights come with this pistol?

The P226 Legion ships with Sig Sauer X-Ray night sights in a square notch configuration, designed for reliable target acquisition in both daylight and low-light conditions. The sight radius is 6.3 inches.

Can I conceal carry a full-size P226?

The P226 is a full-size pistol at 8 inches overall length and 34 ounces. Its contoured Elite beavertail and refined profile help minimize printing under cover garments, but concealed carry depends on your body type, holster choice, and wardrobe. Many shooters run it in appendix or strongside carry with proper holster design.
