The Sig Sauer P220 Legion is a full-size .45 ACP pistol built on decades of proven design and refined for serious shooters who demand a duty-grade carry gun or range workhorse. This isn't a budget reimagining—it's Sig's answer to what a modern P220 should be, with purpose-built upgrades that earn their place on your hip or at the range. The 4.4-inch barrel gives you the compact footprint of a duty gun with genuine .45 power, and the distinctive Legion Gray finish over a stainless steel slide sets it apart from the crowd while delivering hard-use durability.

The Legion package centers on ergonomics and shootability. Custom G-10 grips with a Legion medallion anchor your hand, while aggressive front strap and trigger guard checkering keep the gun where you put it under recoil. The reduced and contoured Elite beavertail rides higher in your grip and sits lower in the holster—a detail that matters whether you're carrying concealed or working from leather. Sig added an X-Five trigger guard undercut to push your grip hand higher still, multiplying your control leverage. Low-profile decocking and slide-catch levers won't snag on clothing or gear, a small detail that speaks to real-world carry experience.

The trigger is a collaboration between Sig and Grayguns Inc.: a P-SAIT design matched with an enhanced polished action and the short-reset trigger (SRT) for crisp, predictable breaks. A solid steel guide rod adds weight where it belongs. For sighting, Sig equipped the Legion with X-RAY3 day/night sights—high-visibility tritium and fiber optic combined so you can pick them up in bright sun or dim light. The front of the slide gets serrations for positive press checks and clearing drills. The gun ships with three 8-round magazines and rides a SIG rail for mounting lights or lasers.

DA/SA trigger discipline appeals to shooters who want a safety lever they can trust and the control that double-action gives you on a cold draw. At 30.4 ounces and 7.7 inches overall, the P220 Legion balances firepower and carryability in a package that's proven across decades of professional and civilian use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Sig Sauer P220 Legion suitable for concealed carry?

Yes. The reduced and contoured Elite beavertail and low-profile decocking and slide-catch levers are designed specifically to reduce printing and snagging when carrying concealed. At 30.4 ounces and 7.7 inches overall length, it's a full-size platform, so you'll want a quality holster and belt, but the Legion's carry-focused design details make it a legitimate option for appendix or waistband carry.

What's included in the box?

The P220 Legion ships with three 8-round steel magazines and the pistol.

Can I mount an optic on the P220 Legion?

Yes, the pistol is optic-ready, which means it's designed to accept a reflex sight. However, you will need to purchase an optic and mounting system separately, as none is included.

What's the difference between the DA/SA trigger and what other pistols use?

The P220 Legion uses a double-action/single-action (DA/SA) trigger, meaning the first shot requires a longer, heavier trigger press (double action) to both cock and fire the hammer, while subsequent shots fire in single action with a shorter, lighter press. This design gives you a built-in safety mechanism on the first shot and allows manual control via the decocking lever. The P-SAIT trigger and short-reset trigger (SRT) on the Legion refine that action for crisp, predictable breaks compared to standard P220 models.
