The SCCY CPX-4 .380 ACP pistol is a compact, affordable double-action-only carry gun built for shooters who want reliable everyday protection without the complexity of manual safeties or decockers. Chambered in .380 Auto and designed with SCCY's Roebuck Quadlock recoil system, the CPX-4 delivers practical shootability in a footprint that won't bog you down—whether you're heading to the range for practice or carrying it as a defensive backup or primary EDC piece. The black-finish stainless steel slide paired with a polymer frame keeps the gun light at 15 ounces while maintaining the durability you need for consistent use.

What makes the CPX-4 stand out in the crowded compact .380 market is its thoughtful ergonomics and no-nonsense design. The 2.96-inch barrel gives you reasonable velocity and accuracy for a gun this size, and the 10+1 capacity means you're not sacrificing too much firepower for the sake of pocket-friendly dimensions. The G-43 style sights are straightforward and fast-acquiring, and if you're leaning toward modern aiming systems, SCCY offers a red-dot-ready variant. The external safety and DAO trigger eliminate the possibility of accidental discharge and work well for shooters who prefer a consistent, deliberate trigger press every time.

At 5.70 inches long and just 1.10 inches wide, the CPX-4 disappears in an appendix or waistband holster. The 9-pound trigger pull is manageable and predictable—not so heavy that follow-up shots become a chore, but heavy enough to instill confidence in safe handling. This is a gun that rewards training and trigger time, not one that asks you to compromise on control or reliability to shave another quarter-inch off your carry footprint.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the SCCY CPX-4 a good choice for everyday carry or backup?

Yes. At 15 ounces with compact dimensions of 5.70\" × 5.26" × 1.10", the CPX-4 is designed to carry all day without printing or causing fatigue. The .380 ACP chambering, combined with the Roebuck Quadlock recoil system, makes it a practical option for anyone seeking a lightweight, reliable defensive pistol that doesn't compromise ergonomics or shootability.

Can I add a red-dot sight to the CPX-4?

A red-dot-ready variant of the CPX-4 is available separately from SCCY, which will have the slide pre-cut for optics mounting. The standard model shown here ships with fixed G-43 style sights and is not pre-cut for a red-dot sight.

What's the trigger action like, and is there a manual safety?

The CPX-4 features double-action-only (DAO) operation with a 9-pound trigger pull and an external safety. Every shot requires the same trigger press—no switching between cocked and uncocked modes—which many shooters prefer for safe, straightforward operation. The external safety adds an extra layer of retention if you're carrying in a pocket or retention holster.

How does the 10+1 capacity compare to other .380 compact pistols?

The CPX-4 holds 10 rounds in the magazine plus 1 in the chamber for a total of 11 rounds. That's a solid capacity for a gun this size, offering more ammunition on board than many single-stack .380s without significantly increasing the pistol's footprint or weight.
