The SCCY CPX-1 Gen 3 9mm pistol is a compact, hammer-fired double-action-only (DAO) design built for shooters who want a reliable, no-nonsense EDC gun. At just 15 ounces with a 3.1-inch barrel, this 9mm carries easy and points naturally—making it a practical choice for concealed carry, backup duty, or home defense. The third generation brings meaningful upgrades: ambidextrous manual safety, picatinny rail, improved grip ergonomics, and G-43 style sights with 3-dot configuration for quick target acquisition in daylight or low light.
SCCY engineered the CPX-1 Gen 3 for simplicity and shootability. The 9-pound DAO trigger is consistent and manageable, the stainless steel slide resists corrosion, and the polymer frame keeps weight down without sacrificing durability. It holds 10 rounds in the magazine plus one in the chamber, giving you 11 rounds of defensive capacity in a gun small enough to pocket or appendix-carry. The external safety sits where your thumb naturally rests—and it's truly ambidextrous, so left-handed shooters get the same control right-handers do.
This is a gun that works. No fidgeting with manual safeties between shots, no over-complicated controls to fumble in stress. The CPX-1 Gen 3 does what you ask, fits where you need it, and won't empty your wallet. If you're after a compact 9mm that strips away the hype and delivers solid, tested design, the SCCY is worth a serious look.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the SCCY CPX-1 Gen 3 good for concealed carry?
Yes. At 15 ounces and just over 6 inches long with a 1.1-inch width, the CPX-1 Gen 3 is purpose-built for EDC and concealed carry. Its compact footprint makes it easy to pocket carry, appendix carry, or tuck into an IWB holster without printing.
What does DAO mean, and why does it matter?
DAO stands for double-action-only. Every trigger pull—first shot or last—cycles the hammer and fires the round. There's no separate hammer-cocking step and no external hammer to snag on clothing during the draw. It's one consistent action for every shot, which simplifies operation under stress.
Can I mount a light or laser to this pistol?
Yes. The CPX-1 Gen 3 includes a picatinny rail underneath the barrel, which accepts standard-size tactical lights and laser modules.
Is the safety truly ambidextrous?
Yes. Both sides of the pistol feature a manual safety, so left-handed and right-handed shooters get equal, intuitive control without fumbling.
