The Savage Mark II GY is a .22 LR rifle built for shooters who want reliable, accurate rimfire performance in a trim, handy package. With a 19-inch barrel and walnut stock, this bolt-action .22 delivers the kind of precision handling that makes it equally at home for target work, small-game hunting, or teaching fundamentals at the range. The Mark II line has earned its reputation for dependability and value, and this GY model continues that tradition with a clean, no-frills design that lets you focus on marksmanship.

Savage equipped this rifle with a satin blued finish that resists corrosion without the gloss or maintenance burden of high-polish bluing. The high-luster walnut stock adds genuine character—this isn't a synthetic or laminate, but real wood that ages well and feels good in your hands. At just 5 pounds, the Mark II GY is light enough for all-day hunting or casual plinking without fatigue, yet substantial enough to shoot steady from a rest or sling.

The 1:16 twist rate and bolt action design favor standard and subsonic .22 LR ammunition, making this rifle a smart choice if you're already running a suppressed .22 or simply want a quiet, low-recoil shooter for pest control or target practice. Ten-round magazine capacity keeps you in the field or at the bench without constant reloading. At 37.75 inches overall length, it's compact and maneuverable in brush or around the homestead.

Whether you're setting up a first .22, adding a dedicated rimfire to your rack, or hunting rabbits and squirrels, the Mark II GY delivers the accuracy and reliability Savage is known for, wrapped in walnut and blued steel.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the Mark II GY good for?

The Mark II GY is a versatile .22 LR rifle suited to target shooting, small-game hunting (rabbits, squirrels), pest control, and teaching fundamentals. Its light recoil and low noise make it ideal for shooters of any age or experience level, and it's compact and handy enough for hunting in brush or around property.

Can I use this rifle with a suppressor?

Yes—the bolt-action design and 1:16 twist rate are well-matched to suppressed .22 LR, including subsonic loads. A suppressor will further reduce noise, making this an excellent choice for backcountry or rural shooting where sound control matters.

Is the walnut stock durable?

The high-luster walnut stock is genuine wood and will develop character over time with use. It's not a synthetic or laminate, so it can be refinished or touched up if needed, and it will age with the rifle. The satin blued finish on the metal works well alongside walnut for a classic, functional look.

What comes with the rifle?

The Savage Mark II GY includes the rifle, walnut stock, satin blued barrel and action, and a 10-round magazine. No scope or sights are included; you'll want to mount optics or irons separately based on your intended use.
