The Savage Rascal Youth .22 LR wood stock rifle is purpose-built for young shooters and adults learning to shoot. This bolt-action rimfire combines safety-first engineering with genuine rifle skills development in a compact, lightweight platform. At just 3.25 pounds with an overall length of 31.5 inches, the Rascal fits shooters who need a properly proportioned firearm—not a scaled-down toy. The 16.125-inch barrel keeps the gun maneuverable for youth hunters and small-game shooters, while full-size rifle controls and features mean new shooters learn the fundamentals that transfer to any centerfire hunting rifle down the road.

What sets the Rascal apart is its uncompromising approach to safe handling. The bolt-cocking design requires you to lift the bolt to chamber a round, and unloading happens the same way—without ever touching the trigger. That's genuine mechanical safety, not marketing. The rifle feeds .22 LR ammunition from a single-shot platform, eliminating the risk of multiple rounds in play. Pair that with Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger and adjustable peep sights, and you're giving a young shooter the same quality trigger control and sight picture options as adult-grade rifles.

The walnut stock and blued finish aren't just good looks; they signal that this is a real rifle deserving of respect and care. Built on Savage's proven bolt-action platform with a 1:16 barrel twist optimized for .22 LR ammunition, the Rascal delivers the accuracy and reliability needed to build confidence and solid shooting habits. Whether you're introducing your child to marksmanship, teaching gun safety fundamentals, or looking for a lightweight .22 platform for small game, the Rascal delivers honest performance without compromise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The Rascal is designed specifically for youth shooters. Its short overall length and light weight fit smaller frames, while the bolt-action design, single-shot capacity, and peep sights teach fundamental rifle skills without overwhelming complexity or recoil. The safety-first cocking mechanism makes it an excellent platform for learning proper firearm handling.

Can an adult shoot the Savage Rascal?

Absolutely. While marketed as a youth rifle, the Rascal's compact size, accuracy, and user-adjustable trigger appeal to adults who want a lightweight .22 LR for small game or recreational shooting. At 31.5 inches overall, it works well for shooters of varied sizes.

What ammunition does the Rascal use?

The Savage Rascal is chambered in .22 LR (long rifle). The barrel twist rate of 1:16 is optimized for standard .22 LR ammunition.

Does the Rascal come with sights?
