The Savage Arms MARK II FSS is a reliable .22 LR rimfire rifle built for shooters who want a no-fuss platform for target practice, small-game hunting, or introducing new shooters to marksmanship. With its stainless steel construction and synthetic stock, this bolt-action .22 handles the elements without flinching—whether you're shooting in your backyard, at the range, or on a camping trip. At 5.5 pounds and 39.5 inches overall, it balances lean weight with a solid 21-inch barrel that delivers the accuracy you'd expect from Savage's reputation for precision at an honest price point.

The MARK II FSS feeds from detachable magazines and cycles with the mechanical simplicity of a bolt-action—no bells, no powder burns, just reliable ignition and straight shots. The stainless barrel and receiver shrug off rust and corrosion, while the black synthetic stock won't absorb water or warp. This is a workhorse .22 that doesn't demand babying. Whether you're zeroing a new scope, running youth shooting matches, or stocking a hunting camp with a versatile small-game rifle, the MARK II FSS gets the job done.

Savage has built a loyal following among hunters and shooters who value mechanical reliability over marketing hype, and the MARK II FSS carries that DNA. The 1:16 twist barrel stabilizes standard .22 LR ammunition across the velocity spectrum, so you can shoot whatever rounds suit your needs without worrying about stability or accuracy loss. If you're shopping for a dependable, weather-resistant .22 that won't drain your budget, the Savage MARK II FSS deserves a look.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the magazine capacity on the MARK II FSS?

The MARK II FSS uses detachable magazines. The rifle is marketed as a 10-round sporter, though capacity can vary by magazine configuration.

Is this .22 rifle good for beginner shooters?

Yes. The bolt-action design, lightweight recoil, and reliable Savage mechanics make the MARK II FSS an excellent choice for new shooters. The low report and manageable weight help build confidence and accuracy fundamentals.

Can I use this rifle for hunting small game?

Absolutely. The .22 LR is a classic small-game round for squirrels, rabbits, and varmints, and the MARK II FSS's 21-inch barrel and 1:16 twist deliver the accuracy needed for clean, ethical shots at typical small-game distances.

Will the stainless barrel hold up to wet weather?

Yes. Stainless steel is corrosion-resistant, and the synthetic stock won't absorb moisture or swell. This rifle is built to handle humid, rainy, or otherwise rough conditions better than traditional blued and wood setups.
