The Savage Arms 93 R17 F XP is a .17 HMR rimfire rifle built for shooters who want accurate, reliable performance on small game and varmints without breaking the bank or the sound barrier. This bolt-action sporter delivers the kind of precision you'd expect from a centerfire rifle, but in a compact, easy-handling package that's perfect for backyard plinking, farm duty, or introducing newer shooters to rifle fundamentals. At just 6 pounds with a 21-inch barrel and 39.5-inch overall length, it points naturally and cycles smoothly—a genuine pleasure to shoot all day.
What sets the 93 R17 F XP apart is its attention to the details that matter. The AccuTrigger is factory-tuned for a clean, crisp break without requiring a gunsmith visit, and the adjustable design lets you dial in the pull weight to your preference. The detachable box magazine keeps feeding reliable, and the two-position safety sits right where your thumb naturally lands. You get a synthetic stock with cut checkering and swivel studs for sling attachment, all in matte black that resists glare and handles hard use. The 1:9 twist barrel is optimized for .17 HMR ballistics, and the rifle comes with a 3x9x40 scope already mounted and bore-sighted—no gunsmithing, no extra cost, ready to shoot accurately out of the box.
Savage's 17 Series rifles have earned a reputation for combining affordability with genuine craftsmanship. The 93 R17 F XP proves you don't need a premium price tag to get a rifle that shoots straight and lasts. If you hunt predators and small game, dispatch varmints around the homestead, or simply want a tack-driving rimfire that handles like a real rifle, this is one of the smartest buys on the market.

Frequently Asked Questions
What comes ready to shoot out of the box?
The 93 R17 F XP arrives with the 3x9x40 scope already mounted on the rifle and bore-sighted, so you can head to the range or field with minimal setup. You'll still want to fine-tune the zero to your specific ammunition and shooting position, but the hard work is done.
Can I adjust the trigger myself?
Yes. The AccuTrigger is factory-tuned and fully adjustable, so you can change the pull weight to suit your preference without sending the rifle to a gunsmith. The design is straightforward and user-friendly.
Is the .17 HMR good for hunting small game and varmints?
The .17 HMR is purpose-built for small game and varmint shooting. It delivers flat trajectory and accuracy at useful distances, with minimal recoil and report—ideal for farm work, predator control, and hunting rabbits, squirrels, and similar game.
Does it come with a sling?
The rifle features swivel studs on the stock, which are designed to accept a sling, but the sling itself is not included. You can easily add one separately.
