The Rock Island AL3.1 .357 Magnum stainless steel revolver delivers serious stopping power in a compact, dependable package built for personal defense and sport shooting. This Model 3520S is a true working revolver—not a range toy—engineered around the proven .357 Magnum cartridge and designed to perform when it matters. The all-stainless construction resists corrosion and handles the rigors of regular carry and use, while the rock-solid single and double-action design gives you flexibility in how you run the gun.

At just 2 inches of barrel length and 6.75 inches overall, the AL3.1 fits the practical middle ground: compact enough for concealed carry without feeling like a snubbie, with enough sight radius and velocity to deliver consistent hits at defensive distances. The 6-round capacity is standard for this class, and the fixed front ramp and rear sights get you on target without fuss. Unloaded weight sits at 1.50 lbs, making it manageable for all-day carry without dead weight in the waistband.

Rock Island built drop safety and mechanical reliability into every corner of this revolver. The cylinder lockup and timing are engineered for the pressures of hot .357 Magnum loads, and the trigger breaks cleanly in both modes—a crisp single-action press around 4–6.5 lbs, or a controlled double-action stroke at 11.5–13 lbs, depending on your press. This isn't mall-ninja marketing; it's a sensible defensive revolver from a maker with a real reputation for honest, uncomplicated guns.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Rock Island AL3.1 suitable for concealed carry?

Yes. At 6.75 inches overall and 1.50 lbs unloaded, the AL3.1 is compact and lightweight enough for daily concealed carry. The 2-inch barrel keeps it snag-free, and the stainless construction handles the environment of close-to-the-body carry without corrosion concerns.

Can I shoot .38 Special in a .357 Magnum revolver?

We don't have information on .38 Special compatibility in the product data. Always consult the owner's manual or contact the manufacturer directly to confirm which cartridges are safe to fire in your specific revolver.

What's the difference between single-action and double-action shooting on this revolver?

In single-action mode, you cock the hammer manually before each shot, resulting in a lighter, cleaner trigger break (4–6.5 lbs). In double-action, squeezing the trigger both cocks and releases the hammer in one press with a heavier, longer stroke (11.5–13 lbs). This gives you flexibility: faster, more deliberate shots in single-action, or a longer trigger press for safety-conscious carry in double-action.

What sights come on the AL3.1?

The revolver features a fixed front ramp sight and fixed rear sight—no adjustments, no glass, just simple and robust iron sights optimized for defensive distances.
