The Remington 870 Fieldmaster 12ga pump action shotgun with 20" barrel is purpose-built for hunters and sport shooters who demand a workhorse that simply runs. The 870 platform has anchored American shotgun culture for over 70 years, and this Fieldmaster variant delivers that legendary reliability in a compact, versatile package. The 20-inch rifled barrel makes it nimble in brush and timber while the milled steel receiver—machined from a solid billet—provides the strength that defines this lineage. Dual action bars keep the cycling smooth and binding-free, so your follow-up shot comes when you need it.

Built for function, not for display, the Fieldmaster sports a no-nonsense satin black finish paired with grade A walnut furniture. The laser-cut checkering on the stock provides genuine purchase in wet or gloved hands, and the front bead sight keeps target acquisition simple and fast. At 7.5 pounds and 40 inches overall, it handles like a shotgun should—balanced and responsive whether you're moving through brush or mounting for a passing bird.

The 3-inch chamber handles 2.75-inch or 3-inch shells, and you'll find three interchangeable Rem Chokes (Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder) in the box to dial in your shot pattern for ducks, upland birds, or clay work. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting if you want to add glass, and the cross-bolt safety is intuitive and positive. A recoil pad absorbs the snap of longer shells, making extended shooting days more comfortable.

For hunters and shooters who've proven their loyalty to the 870 platform, or those considering their first pump shotgun, the Fieldmaster delivers what Remington has stood for: a gun that works hard, lasts decades, and earns its place in your truck bed or gun cabinet through sheer, unadorned dependability.

Frequently Asked Questions

What chokes come with the Remington 870 Fieldmaster?

Three interchangeable Rem Chokes are included: Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder. This trio covers most hunting scenarios—from tight patterns for distance shots to open patterns for close-quarters flushing.

Can I mount a scope on this 870?

Yes. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting, so you can add glass if your hunting situation calls for it.

What's the difference between the 20-inch rifled barrel and other 870 options?

The 20-inch length makes this Fieldmaster shorter and more maneuverable in timber, brush, and vehicles—ideal for upland hunting or home defense. The rifled barrel is suited for slug hunting where you need the stability that rifling provides.

Can this shotgun shoot both 2.75-inch and 3-inch shells?

Yes. The 3-inch chamber handles both 2.75-inch and 3-inch ammunition, though magazine capacity is 4 rounds with 2.75-inch shells and 3 rounds with 3-inch shells.
