The Remington 783 in .300 Wby Mag is a hard-working bolt-action rifle built for hunters who need serious range and power. With a 24-inch barrel, this rifle delivers the velocity and trajectory needed for long-distance hunting and open-country pursuits where caliber and reach matter. The 783 line has earned its place in the field as an affordable, no-nonsense hunting rifle that doesn't ask you to choose between capability and value.

Remington's 783 platform is known for solid fundamentals: a reliable bolt-action mechanism, a clean trigger pull, and a rifle that points naturally and handles confidently from the bench or in the field. The .300 Wby Mag is a serious cartridge—flat-shooting, hard-hitting, and proven on large game and extreme-distance targets. The 24-inch barrel balances velocity and practicality, giving you the ballistic advantage of the magnum without an unwieldy length.

This black-stocked version offers the classic look that works in any hunting situation, from western mule deer country to pronghorn plains. If you're building a hunting rifle that combines proven action design with a magnum cartridge you can trust, the Remington 783 .300 Wby Mag deserves a close look.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the .300 Wby Mag good for?

The .300 Wby Mag is a powerful magnum rifle cartridge designed for long-range hunting of large game and extended-distance target shooting. It delivers flat trajectory and hard-hitting energy at distance, making it popular for western hunting and precision rifle applications.

Is the Remington 783 a reliable hunting rifle?

The Remington 783 is a traditional bolt-action rifle with a straightforward, proven design. It's widely used by hunters who value dependable mechanics and accurate shooting without unnecessary complexity or cost.

What does the 24-inch barrel mean for performance?

A 24-inch barrel on a magnum rifle balances velocity and practical handling. It's long enough to achieve the cartridge's intended ballistic performance but not so long that it becomes cumbersome in the field or from a vehicle.

What kind of hunting is this rifle suited for?

The .300 Wby Mag and 783 platform are well-suited for hunters pursuing large game at extended ranges, including elk, mule deer, and other game in open terrain where magnum ballistics and reach provide an advantage.
