The PTR GIR 400 is a .308 rifle built on the proven delayed blowback roller-lock system — a design that traces back to legendary H&K engineering. This 18-inch rifle delivers a compact, maneuverable platform without sacrificing the ballistics and range authority that .308 Winchester offers. At 40 inches overall and 9.75 pounds, it's portable enough for hunting or tactical applications while remaining control-friendly for shooters of varying builds. The green parkerized finish gives it a classic military aesthetic that's earned respect in the field.
The heart of the GIR 400 is its match-grade H&K profile tapered barrel — the same profile trusted by precision shooters for consistency and quick handling. The rifle comes equipped with a scope mount, letting you set up glass quickly without hunting for aftermarket solutions. The fixed NRA-rated GOOD classic H&K OD green stock locks down a solid, stable firing platform. A 10-round magazine keeps you supplied without unnecessary bulk.
This is a serious rifle for hunters, precision shooters, and anyone who values reliability over trend. The roller-lock action cycles dependably across a wide range of ammunition, and the compact 18-inch barrel makes it ideal for hunting in timber or from a vehicle. If you're looking for a .308 rifle that handles like a shorter gun but hits like a full-length one, the PTR GIR 400 deserves a hard look.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the PTR GIR 400 ready to mount a scope?
Yes — the rifle comes equipped with a scope mount, so you can attach optics without sourcing additional hardware.
What makes the roller-lock action different from a typical AR-platform .308?
The delayed blowback roller-lock system is an H&K design that's distinct from direct impingement or short-stroke piston rifles. It's known for reliable function and reduced recoil impulse compared to many conventional systems.
Is the 18-inch barrel suitable for hunting medium and large game?
.308 Winchester has ample power for hunting applications; barrel length impacts velocity and handling. The 18-inch length on this rifle makes it compact and handy, though muzzle velocity will be slightly lower than longer barrels. Ballistics depend on your specific load, distance, and game.
Can I use standard AR-pattern magazines with this rifle?
The PTR GIR 400 uses a 10-round magazine and is built on the H&K roller-lock platform — it does not accept standard AR-pattern .308 magazines. The rifle is also available in CA-compliant versions with a bullet button in place of the paddle magazine release.
